Topic: RE: Weightloss and Birth Control
I know Depo is very strong and I gained weight when I was on it years ago. Since surgery I've been on a very low dose bc pill and it hasn't affected my weightloss at all and I'm very happy with it. There are many options out there, talk to your OB/GYN to find what's best for you. A friend of mine is on the Nuva ring which is also a very low dose of hormones and it hasn't affected her weightloss. She's 1 1/2yrs post-op and started using the ring a month after surgery. I wish you the best and congratulations on your 80lb loss

Yeah, I take my chances too but I'm very careful . I don't like the side effects of bc either.

WTG Liz That's a super wow moment. I can't wait to see if I can accomplish something similar without feeling out of breath.
You're an inspiration!

Now, that's a WOW moment! I had something similar. A few years ago while on vacation, we toured Mammoth Cave in KY. We did the "easy" tour and it still almost killed me. This year, we did a much harder tour. We were in the cave for almost 4 hours and walked/climbed over 5 miles. I had a blast.

Yes it could be the depo. I had a Mirena IUD inserted and removed with in 30 days.
My dr said that everything with hormones can interfere with the weight loss process.
HE recommended the Nuva Ring, but i wasn't interested.
Have you asked your dr about it. I know my dr won't give depo to any patients.
I would stay away from MIrena because i had a bad experience.
Good Luck - PS I take my chances and don't use anything because of the side effects.
Topic: Another WOW Moment
So a few years ago, before I had my second child, my fiance and I went on a hike. Going downhill, of course I was fine, but uphill, after 100 feet or so going up, I felt like I was dying, breathing hard, chest hurting from my lungs working so hard. And he basically had to coach me, cheer me, and pull me up the hill... with several rests along the way.
Yesterday, we (and our son Charlie, who is 3) went to the same place, but this time, we did the really HARD hill, which was about 1/3 of a mile up a pretty steep hill, and then down another hill. It was like nothing compared to the last time I was up there. It was like mild cardio excercise (the dvd I excercise to makes me breathe WAY harder than that hill). I could NOT believe it. Last time we went there and he suggested we go up that hill, I said "NO WAY!". This time, it wasn't even that bad, and I felt comfortable as we walked up, I didn't have to stop and rest or anything. We cut the hike a bit short, after a mile or so, because we didn't want our son to get overtired (boy did he sleep well last night).
I find that climbing stairs and obviously mountains are so much easier now that 100 lbs is off of me. I am still in shock that something that was so hard for me, was not hard at all, and in fact, if Charlie hadn't been there, we probably could have done the whole hike (5 miles) pretty easily.
I just wanted to share that... I know everyone is going through similar revelations, but sharing it with you all, I know you can appreciate where you've been and how far you've come. Yay for US!

Hi Losers. I had surgery on February 14, 2006 and have lost about 80 pounds. Even though I am proud of that I feel I should have lost more weight by now. I started taking Depo provera on July 18, 2006 and weighted 242. Then a month later when I went to see the surgeon I only lost -2 pound since July. I was thinking maybe it could be the birth control or the vitamins because I take about 5 pills a day but who knows. If anyone *****ads this and has any advice please feel free to comment. Thank You.

Thank you for replying. I am so worried it is just my nerves or something and when they get in there they are going to find nothing wrong. But you are right it is right below y brest in the middle. about an inch above my incision and belching hurts like !@#$ and I am belching on everything. I have an appointment at seven o'clock in the morning. love marie
