Topic: RE: nausea am I the only one?
I cant drink protein shakes now. My doc suggested I dont and it isnt a problem for me to follow his suggestion! They all make me wanna gag and I get dizzy and yucky feeling. I will eat a protein bar in the morning instead. It sounds to me that what you are describing is a dumping reaction. If I have something that doesnt agree with me, I get really hot flashy and light headed and woozy nausea feeling until a few minutes pass and the feeling slowly subsides. I sometimes even have to lay down or put my head between my knees.

So, my MIL and I went shopping this week while they were visiting us.
I am trying on clothes left and right since she was payin'!! I grab this pair of denim capris. They were cute and on sale, but a size 8. I figure what the hell, I will try em on. The last jeans I bought were 10s and these just *may* fit.
I slide them bad boys over my hips and WOW they fit. I was definitely lookin a little ****tina Hoetta cause they were tighter than any of my other jeans, but they had a llil stretch so they actually looked pretty hot! So she buys them for me.
We get home and I am taking tags off stuff and just sorting through my loot! Im tickled cause I got me my first pair of size 8s!! MIL comes in to help me and she grabs the denim capris, she pulls the tags off and tells me to come here. Im like oh **** are they ripped or stained and thats why they were on sale?? She starts laughing and says look at the tag inside. I apparently cant read cause the dang things were a SIX not an eight!!!! Holy bat**** a friggin size 6 jeans fit me!!! I am still floored!!
I wore em yesterday and I kept telling DH that I was going to walk up to strangers and be like "Hi, my name is Michelle and my jeans are a size 6!"
Nobody else really "gets" my excitement so I had to share here, cause I knew you guys would be excited with me!!!!
The pic isnt that great cause my 7 yr old son was my photographer!!

Topic: RE: 7 MONTH UPDATE FOR YOU ALL
I find using fitday.com is the best way to keep me on track. I used it for a couple of months post op to make sure i was getting in enough protein, then i started using it at about 5 1/2 months out to make sure i was on track.
It's good and it's free. If you feel that you need something more "one on one" try going to a support group (many have bi monthly meetings) where you can be held accountable for how your eatting, or at least feel motivated. You can go to "weigh****chers" or Over eaters annonymous, or do something along that lines, if you really feel the need for someone to watch what your eating...or you could just find a different nutritionist. Fortunately nutritionists are a dime a dozen, you just need to find one that you can get along with, and who knows a bit more about bariatric surgery.

Heather,
Unlike you & Gosh, I have an AMAZING nutritionist! *sorry* Don't throw anything at me! I don't want to gush, but she is just great. She's been there for me every single step of the way, and I can honestly say that I don't know where I'd be without her! I call her at the office any time of the day or night and she always gets back to me with guidance and/or correction, in a gentle way. She is an asset to the amazing program (Bariatric Surgical Associates in Horseheads, NY) I'm a part of. She knows her stuff!!! One of the first things she did was point me to fitday.com. I live and die by that site and this one. I say that because at fitday.com I can keep track of every bite I put in my mouth, as long as I am honest with what I put in my mouth. It gives an accurate count of how much protein I'm getting, and that really helps me stay on track. It's just a suggestion, but it's one that has helped me along in my journey. Sorry that you two have such crappy nutritionists! Heather, may you find enough guidance here to keep you on the straight and narrow! *You know, 'cuz WE'RE getting narrow-er!* (okay, that was bad!)

You're doing better than me. I've "only" lost 80lbs.

My nut's a nut case. Don't feel bad! I've learned more on here than I ever did from her. There are so many things she didn't know. Here's a couple of examples... She didn't know that you can't take your calcium supplement at the same time as your iron... She didn't know that your body only absorbs a max of 35 grams of protein at a time... These are fairly simple things. She was supposed to consult with me, on a regular basis, but has never contacted me. Yeah, I know, I should be proactive, but I don't like/trust her with the knowledge she should have, so I didn't bother.
There is a nutrition forum, on here, if you feel you need help. We are also a big bunch (okay, I know, a shrinking bunch) of opinionated know-it-all's so don't be afraid to ask us a specific question, if you need to.
K?

Thank you. Every time I think, man, can't the scale just move, I take a look at some old photos, and think that I'm not doing too bad.

I went to my family doctor yesterday and have officially lost 101 pounds in addition to 16 medical medications in 7 months. Couldn't ask to feel any better physically. Heather
Topic: 7 MONTH UPDATE FOR YOU ALL
Yesterday(September 14) made 7 months since my surgery. I had it on Valentines Day. I met with the dietition for 6 months post-op and her and I had trouble getting along so she closed my case and gave me to her co-worker. Stupid me I got ticked off and told the surgeon to cancel my nutrition appointments. I'm asking for advice as to what I should do because I've noticed lately I could use the nutritional counseling if for nothing else just to keep me on track with everything. I'm slacking on getting enough protein in daily. Thanks very much for being there OH brothers/sisters. Heather
