Hi Everyone.... well it's started. I am losing my hair already. It pretty much started this weekend, and I already knew what to look for, because this happened to me after I had both of my sons. My hair starts getting big snarls in it (I have curly hair), and all the sudden my hair is everywhere, all over the floor, in my kids bed, all over my bed, in DH's hair. So that's all the news. I'm losing my hair

My .02. I've been told by the pharmacist, some WLS veterans and a couple friends that had chemo....Zinc, folic acid (to stop the loss) and biotin (to help the re-growth) are they way to go....don't know but I'm gonna try it; I started noticing it too last week. I'm off to the vitamin shoppe Jackie

I'm sorry, I'm so dreading this moment. I've been taking biotin since almost day one, I am really high on my protein and I make sure I get the proper amount of fat, too, I think it's hard to imagine that ANY fat is good, but our skin, hair and nails especially need it. Luckily, you know from having your kids, that it is only temporary. Hang in there! xosm

I'm sorry this is happening. I upped my protein intake in hopes that it will help. I've noticed that my fingernails are growing again. They were pretty brittle for awhile. I wasn't getting enough protein in. Be comforted in knowing we all are with you through this. It's only temporary.

Thanks for the sympathy guys, it really does mean a lot to me that I can talk about this stuff with you all. My multivitamin has zinc, folic acid and biotin in it, 100% or more of the daily allowance. And my protein intake is on course with what my nutritionist says I should be taking in. But to be honest, I just changed to this new vitamin, and I'm hoping that it helps me out. I read about it on bariatriceating.com (don't kill me, I know some people don't like that web site). Anyway, just wanted to share and was wondering if anyone else is having similar problems.

We all fear and dread the hair loss factor. How much protein do you get in a day? I'm a firm believer that protein is a big factor. I get 75 grams of protein a day, not counting anything that I eat. I use Profect. I have been getting 75 grams a day since 2/24, the day after my surgery. Hope it stops for you soon.

Hi Liz, earlier this week I looked at your post and thought...hmmm I haven't noticed anything different. However, last night I went ahead and took some pictures (just for fun) and guess what I noticed? Yes, I think I see where I'm already losing my hair!! Right where my hairline begins!! I didn't noticed until I took those pictures...geez I hope this doesn't get any worse but it is just the beginning. Oh well...we'll see what happens. Elisa
