No one said that I spell everything right but... I think most of you know what I am talking about. When I did the Akins diet forever ago I was one of the few people who was always having shall we say it nicely "very distrubingly loose" bm's ! It was recommended back then that I try it. Now that I seem to be having the reverse problem more often my Dr's office has again recommened the ole Acidophelus... What has been your experiences ? Anyone else been advised to try it out with constipation problems ? I was taking the fiber wafers and they were doing great but I just don't feel comfortable taking them on a daily basis and someone said that if I do take the Acid. stuff (lol) that it will help to "normalize" stuff better so I shouldn't have so many problems. Any info or help would be great ! Thanks !!

Sorry things are backed up... I don't know about the acidolphilus(sp), but if you're looking for other things to move it on out try 1, sorbee candies 2, pickles and or juice (usually dill) 3, jalapeno peppers and or juice 4, well... greasy food used to do it, but we can't anymore 5, drink lots of water 6, eat beans, you'll be "jet propelled" but the gas and fiber will help things along. There's supposed to be a yogurt out there with active cultures, but I don't know if there is a "light" one. I hope this helped. When I had my RNY I had a horrible case of IBS so now I only go 1-4 times a day. I hear a lot of people on here only going once a week, and I can't fathom that. I'm just so happy I don't pass out in the bathroom anymore. HTH Gosh

Acidophelus is good for the flora and fauna of the intestinal tract and is often recommended for soothing it which might then help you go but I always thought it was more like a homeopathic answer to taking pepcid, MOM or the like, perhaps I'm wrong. My program calls for being on pepcid ac for the first several months. Loose and yellow oily "expulsions" are due to too much fat. Constipation can be too little. It is perfectly normal to only go 2x a week post op as we are taking in less than 1/4 of what we used to in most cases. My doc said if it goes past 5 days that's too much or 4x a time is also too much. I find that after 3 days have passed I worry, and that tenseness doesn't help. MOM is always recommended on the boards for constipation. For me, A little prep h helps to relax the area and all it takes is a couple SF candies w/sorbitol or a latte with a little tiny bit of regular cream and it's howdy doody time. My .02 for what it's worth....
