I'm sorry if I offended anyone, but I have been trying to defecate for a few days and nothing. The last couple times have been a week apart, and have been very difficult to get out. I would sit on the toilet for an hour (the first time) and half an hour (last Friday), and it felt like I was crappin' jagged rocks. *insert your laughing here* Tonight I felt the urge to go and went to the bathroom....and nothing. I was on the toilet for half an hour and pushed like I was labor, complete with screaming. Not pleasant. I'm frustrated. My nutritionist said to drink 100% apple juice before I try anything else. I want to try Traditional Medicinals Smooth Moves Tea. I might do that tomorrow. Anyone have any other suggestions? It doesn't really hurt now, but I feel pressure. Jen Halliday

Jen, I go about once a week. I didn't think that was a problem...are we suppose to be going everday or more than once? I just go whenever I feel like going. I do struggle when it's time but it doesn't hurt. My husband suggested I take fiber--Benefiber because it's tasteless and you can mix it in just about anything. Please let us know if we should be going more than once a week. Elisa

Jen, guess who's constipated now? I AM! I had to come back on here and read what people recommended. Did you ever try that tea and did it work for you? Thanks! Elisa

Aww, Elisa!! That sucks!!! I did try the Traditional Medicinals Smooth Moves Tea, and it works like a charm. No, seriously. I drink it once a week, if needed.....you know, if I can't get stuff moving on my own through upping my fiber. Okay, so drink it before bedtime and you should poo when you get up in the morning. You could also experience some diarrhea part of the day, if not the rest of the day, so you need to get more fluids in! That's what I've been doing and it does work like a charm!! *sigh* Good luck! My first time with post-op constipation I took Milk of Magnesia and it ran everything out of there and made me all dehydrated the next day. Last week I had the problem with all that pain and was taking the codeine around the clock and I got it BAD [much worse than you have described, if you can imagine that]. I tried a small dose of MOM, followed by a warm water enema and well, nothing. I had to dislodge some of it with a double gloved hand [gross, sorry!]. Then I took another medium dose of MOM and cried all night long, petrified that I'd fall asleep and have an accident. I piled in all the water I could tolerate. The next morning it was still like concrete and what did come out was like shards of glass - I had to stop taking the codeine and I was in pain coming and going LOL. So I took the full laxative dose of MOM [if you notice the label has doses for antacid relief and laxative relief, and I was trying to stay away from getting too loose]. Anyway, about 48 hours later I had about a day of too loose, and I just made sure I kept drinking and drinking and drinking, even if I had to stay up later to make it happen. I was told to look into Benefiber for regular, uhm, regularity. I also saw your post on the main board and am going to look into the tea. I hope you have an easier time than I did!!! If it persists, I would call your surgeon [I knew mine already recommended MOM, and it was the weekend, or I may have]. xosm

I found some great little orange flavored chewable fiber wafers- sugar free also... I am at work so I don't have the name but I was able to pick them up at my local CVS store. (They were in a bottle with oranges all over it...Found em near the metamucil and stuff...) They have worked wonderfully. The first time I had two and felt like I was a bit too bloated but the next time I took only one and within about 3-5 hours I was ok. Be careful and make sure that you don't "over exert" cuz you can do alot more damage than you could ever imagine. (Walking around for a couple of days with a sore heiny is bad enough but internally you can cause other problems !) Also if you are taking iron that could be a big part of the trouble. I was taking my iron before I went to bed and moved it to first thing in the AM and it seems like I am having less trouble now. Hoping things get better...

My fiancee is home so he gave me the name of those wafer thingys ! They are made by a company called FIBER CHOICE CHEWABLE TABLETS... He says that there is sugar in them... He had to search for them so he isn't too happy with the idea of having to relay TOO much info ! But if you need more info let me know and I can send it tonite when I get home !

Jen, No offense taken...we're all on the same toilet, so to speak Just let me say, BENEFIBER, BENEFIBER, BENEFIBER!!! Benefiber is my new best friend I had 2 tbsp to my bottled water, and no more jagged rocks (those rocks hurt!). I reccomend it for EVERYONE!!! It comes in a powder form, tablets, and chewable. Again let me say BENEFIBER...and no they're not paying me, but they should Tonya
