Today when I drink my water it's just not sitting well. So I am trying some soup. I was wondering if any of you have ever experienced this as well. Most days I can eat and drink pretty well and then there are other days when I don't want anything. I did eat some salad today and a little hamburger on it. I chewed chewed chewed...who knows. maybe I just need to whine a bit...thanks for listening

I've been experiencing the same thing. I'm 8 weeks post-op. I've noticed that I've become more laxed in how I eat and that is making a difference. I don't pay attention when I'm eating sometimes, so I either eat too fast or a bite too much. Then I get that uncomfortable feeling. Also, when I drink I tend to gulp yet (you'd think I'd learn my lesson by now) and get that feeling too. Water doesn't sit well with me in the morning. I have to drink juice or a protein shake instead. Not sure why that happens. I've been lucky and can tolerate just about anything, but there are times when something I ate yesterday just doesn't agree with my pouch the next. I heard this is par for the course. Same thing with having an appetite one day and not the next.

I too cant handle water in the mornings. I will take my Actigall with a little skim milk or some tomato juice. Then, I will make a teensy weensy omelet with egg whites, mozz cheese, and diced tomatoes (I even bought a tiny fry pan to make it in....its about the size of a ravioli when Im done)! On my way to work I drink a glass of Tropicana sugar free lemonade and by the time that 20ish ounces is finished, I can then drink water! I had issues a few weeks ago with not being able to eat much at all and drink much either. I always felt nauseous and had pains in my chest like I swallowed a whole egg! Turns out I had a stricture after trying to convince myself for a week that I didnt have one, I finally went to the doc and sure enough that was what it was. You are further along than I was at the time that I went through this. Like Natalie said, you might just not be paying attention to how you are eating. I hope you feel better and figure out what is causing your disomfort. We certainly are a work in progress eh?

Thanks so much for the input. Today I will try some of your ideas and see how I feel. I will make sure I eat this morning before trying any water and slow it down a little more. I bet that will make a huge difference. We definitely are a work in progress. I was ecstatic yesterday when I weighed. I have dropped 44 pounds now since my surgery. It is wonderful. Well here's to another HEALTHY day!

Thanks Natalie for your input. I thought about it and you know, I think I did eat a little bit too fast yesterday and probably not enough. So today I am determined to pay a little closer attention. I think I will just start out with an omelet today and go from there but sip on some ice tea with crystal light instead of water. That has been one of my favorites. My body has been through so many changes as yours has I am sure. I no longer take most of my medications which is wonderful! I've lost several inches and 44 pounds so far. Here's to another HEALTHY DAY!

Wow! I'm jealous that you can eat salad, I heard most people can't tolerate it for a looong time and I love salad [I'm not even allowed to THINK about it]. I think everything in there is still new and takes up to a year for the finer tissues to totally heal, seems normal and expected to me that some days will be easier than others. Usually I can drink no problem, occasionally I have to force myself. I think it's all part of the process. xosm

The ph balance in water is heavy. That is why it doesnt sit well. I had to add something to my water for a while, like crystal light. And everything taste so strong to me that I had to dilute everything usually like 2/3 water, 1/3 propel. Now I can tolerate the water but dont have a taste for it so most of the time I drink propel. Which is getting a little expensive but I save on not eating so I figure it evens out. Good luck. love marie

To fix the stricture, they shoved a scope down my throat (I had been drugged a bit first) and then the doc uses a balloon to widen the stoma. The balloon was filled with saline to open it and stretch it back to a wide enough opening. It was nearly painless and over within 15 minutes. I got instant relief from the pain and eating/drinking was finally easier to do. The doc did say that often a stricture will need to be "stretched" a few times before the size is permanent. If I feel the same pain in my chest and I cant eat or drink because of it, I wont hesitate to get my butt back to the GI unit so they can fix me up again!
