Feb. 23rd Surgery Day! Hello!
I am glad I found you guys! I had lap RNY 2-23-06 and on 3-19-06 I had to go to the ER-ended up with a second surgery and was in the hospital for 6 days. Long story short, my intesine was kinked, twisted and fused together. I am 32, from CA...and glad to be here.
Do you guys find that when you eat soup you can eat a lot? Last night I ate a full can of soup-almost 2 cups!!! I even had sugar free pudding after that. Even if the liquid is passing thru faster, I don't know how on earth a little 2-4oz tummy can handle so much?
Also, do your tummy's seem swollen and bloated? If you wear anything around them that is even a little bit snug, it is uncomfortable? I had this even before my 2nd surgery. I tried on a pair of pants that I wore at 230 -home scale- and put them on at 185-home scale-and they were tight and uncomfortable!!!
hey kayla
how are you? I also had surgery on the 23rd!!! so far I lost 31 lbs...but i seem to be on a pause, i hope this phase ends soon..lol
sorry to he about your 2nd surgery i hope everything is ok now
so your stomach is 2-4 oz, thats great my stomach in 1 oz...lol Ive notice on the board everyones new stomach is different sizes, i guess it depends on the doctor..
i agree with the bloating most of the time i do feel bloated after i eat, but also my doctor said that area is still swollen for a bit. as for liquids and soups im like that to not realizing i drank all that, but look at how long it takes you to drink all that not the amount, before a bottle of water was like 5 min for me now it more like 45 min.
hope i can help, love to chat some more
take care

Hi Kayla!
I had lap RNY on 2/21/06 and have lost 50 pounds. Three almost 4 weeks post op, I had to have an endoscopy cause I had a stricture. I was whining about that but sheesh you have had it worse than me!! I hope you are feeling better!
I am 32, soon to 33 in August and have 2 boys (7 and 9). I am married to my military man and have been for 12 years!!! We are high school sweethearts and technically have been together for 17 years!!! Thank God he has always loved me fat or not!!
I agree with the tummy swelling. I hate wearing pants that even though they fit, the snug waist makes me cranky!! It is working out though cause if I just wear all my old pants than they are hanging and I dont get that squished tummy feeling! I have only bought 2 pair of new jeans since surgery and they look awesome but my baggy ones are definitely more comfy!! I wonder why the snugness bothers our pouches?? Things that make you go hmmmmm............
It was nice to "meet" you!
Hi Kayla! W*e*L*c*O*m*E to the February Loser's board, glad you found us!
I'm so sorry about your 2nd surgery. I hope you are feeling a lot better now. I'm from CA too .
I rarely eat soup now. But when I was eating it earlier on I agree it sure did feel like I could have more soup, oh except if it's the chunky kind.
Take care and hope you continue to post here.

Hi Kayla
I had an open RNY on 2-8-06...open because I had my stomach stapled some years back, so my surgeon couldn't do LAP. Even though I had to have open I wouldn't change a thing...this is one of the best things I've ever done for myself. I've lost 42 lbs as of today
Did you have to have an open surgery to fix your intestine? So glad to know your'e doing better. They say that can happen from time to time.
I can down a lot of any liquid...but I try to make sure I don't go over 4 oz for a meal...that's the limit my surgeon set. He also explained why we can take in so much more than our pouches can hold...It's a straight shot from our stomach to our intestine and liquid basically runs right through us.
As far as being uncomfortable in your clothes...it will get better.

Thank you! It is nice to meet people going thru the same things that I am. I'll tell ya, I posted a question on the Q and A and they ripped me a new one! I just asked about how I can eat a full cup of broth...they said I am eating too much food, I was going to stretch my pouch...some were nice, but it almost made me cry! It's nice to get support, and not ridiculed.
