Wedding Dress....
My fiancee and I are thinking about getting married this fall. Now, here comes the question- I am right now 5 weeks out of Lap RNY and will have to go pick out a dress. How the heck am I even going to have any kind of idea what size dress to order ? In the past 5 weeks I have lost 31 lbs, more than 3 inches off my waist and more than 1 size in my jeans. I am worried that if I get a dress that is way too big that not only is the alteration going to be a mess but that I may have to pay a mint to have it taken in. If I go too small it would be worse ! Any input or ideas would be soooo greatly appreciated !
Thanks ! I guess that after being together for 5+ years we should think of making it official ! As of right now we are looking at Early October and right now I wear a size 20 jeans... I haven't tried on any new shirts so I can't even begin to imagine... I hope that I will be able to realllllly buy something off the rack by then and just have length stuff adjusted.... Ohhhh I wonder !
I think you'll probably be in a size 6 by then! I say this because last night I spoke to this lady who had the surgery about 4 or 5 months ago and she started as a size 20 and now she is a size 6/7 . So what do you think? You're going to look great!! You'll definitely be able to by something off the rack by then. Wooo hoo for you! I wish I would of been thinner when I got married because I hated my dress. That's the only thing I look back and wish that I could have been able to wear a better dress ...Oh well...hehe.
Good Luck!

Julie MOST DEFINITELY...you will be sporting single digits by Christmas. Believe it!! Wooohoo that is going to be something to look forward to, huh? I don't think I'll be in single digits but if I can get down to a size 16 I'll be happy!!
Oh btw you guys check out this site...it's suppose to calculate your weightloss. Try and see how much you might weigh a few months from now.

I don't know if this is a hard and fast rule in tailoring but I was told that a dress can't be altered down more than 3 sizes. You'd have to completely take it apart and that would probably cost more than the dress to do. Do yourself a favor. Weddings are stressful enough, put this on the backburner til late August/September (when they go on sale anyway) and then grab one off the rack when you'll be closer to reality. But you might want to line up a seamstress earlier as they can book up. You will look so beautiful and your choices will be so many. Best Wishes! J.
