Are you hungry all the time?

I'm 7 weeks post-op and it seems like I get hungry within an hour or so of eating. Maybe I'm not eating enough. Maybe the pouch is so small, it empties faster than if it had a lot of food in it. I'd like to hear your story. Today I had some B-Cheerios w/skim milk, S- nuts, L-cottage cheese & applesauce, S-nuts and dinner will probably be some fish and a veggie. I also have a hard time drinking my water. I take sips throughout the day but it's far from the required amounts. If any of you have advice, I'd love to hear it. Thanks Mary Jo

I know that is sounds crazy and I would have never really believed it myself but instead of trying to get all your liquids thru water try stuff other than water ! I can sip a bottle of water all day long but if you give me something else like a diet snapple or fruit 2o (or whatever!) I seem to be able to get it down sooooo much faster ! I have noticed a huge improvement in my skin and not feeling so parched all the time. I was a huge water drinker before surgery and really do miss it but figure that keeping myself hydrated no matter what I have to drink is more important ! It also sounds like you may not be getting enough protein- I didn't feel well the other day so really didn't eat much and didn't have my usual protein liquid or tea, the next day I was so weak that I was worried... Ate some protein and started to perk up right away and the protein makes you feel full for a longer period of time ! Good luck & keep in touch !

I thought I was the only one experiencing hunger! I'm 4 1/2 wks post-op and I've experienced this. It seems to happen 1-2hrs after I eat or if I stop sipping my water. But then I have some days when I have to remind myself to eat. It drives me crazy because when I eat I can't eat much then I'm hungry an hour later. I sometimes wonder if I'm eating enough but I guess it's just my body adjusting to it's new stomach. Sylvia

I'm 5-1/2 weeks post op and I have to say that I'm never really very hungry. I eat what I'm supposed to for breakfast, luch and supper and try to get in all my liquids, i.e. juice, water and milk but sometimes it's hard to drink it all. I guess our new stomachs have to get used to food in their own way and time. Happy journey to all, Angela

Mary Jo, I'm 6 weeks and yup I feel hungry too. Before surgery I thought that feeling would be gone forever because I kept reading how people forgot to eat and had to force themselves to eat. Well, that's not the case for me...especially at nights. I get the hungriest around 10-12am. I guess I should be in bed by then but I stay up and boy I feel hungry a lot in those 2 hours . I think that a cuplrit could be artificial sweeteners. I have read a research article and the pouch rules for dummies and both say that artificial sweeteners make you hungry. I drink all my water flavored and of course sweetened with artificial sweeteners. How about you? Maybe we should stick to what Angela drinks: juice, water, and milk. Elisa
