Is it possible to get coverage if your insurance has a written exclusion? Just six months ago when I called my insurance company in regard to coverage I was told that it was covered as long as it was medically necessary. Today when I called I was told that they did not cover any type of weight loss surgery. I have a BMI over 40 and Diabetes. The weight loss center I contacted stated that others have been covered using the same insurance. I am going to go ahead with all the paperwork and let the weight loss staff submit a letter to the insurance company and see what happens. This is really strange that I was given two different responses by my insurance company. Has anyone else ever dealt with this problem?

Hi Jill I have BCBS of MA and they just told me that it just had to be medically necessary! The company you work for may have added an exclusion! I would still put it through because they still will review it and tell you whether you are covered or not! If they tell you no fight it!!!! Dont take no for an answer!!! Well good luck!! Stephanie
