Oh, i'm 32 and need to find a birth control method now that i'm 3 weeks post op. I keep putting it off and I haven't found a dr to care for my neediness. I'm trying to avoid the baby . My dr said 18 months to 2 years before I can have a child. I don't want to abstain that long, or else I won't be happily married. Hee.... I am being extra cautious but I cannot be on this gaurd when real life picks back up again.

Hi Jennifer, I was on the pill for 5 years and my doc said it could cause blood clots during surgery, so I got the paraguard iud. So far it has worked out. It's nice not to worry about it! Good luck!! Vanessa

My friend who had this over a year ago is on that Seasonal. She loves it. I may try it after my hubby gets back from Iraq. Hugs and Kisses Sandy

Jennifer, I know what you mean. I need to get my butt into the doctor's office and get me some bc. I have been putting it off because I was still recovering from surgery but man it's been way too long now !! I was thinking of asking my dr about that NuvaRing I've seen it advertised and it looks like something I might want to try. Has anyone tried the ring? Elisa

My OB GYN had RNY and she recommends the Nuvaring. I am on it and it is fine. I was on it all through the surgical process. It produces hormones locally and not so much systemically. I would talk to your doctor about it. It's easy and comfy. Jen

I'm also on Nuvaring. I've been on it for over a year and I love it. You keep it in 3 weeks then take it out for 1 week so you get your period. It's easy, effective and the best part: side effects are minimal if any because the hormone dosage is low. I'm sure there are risks as with any b.c., but this is by far the best method I've used so far. I tried b.c. pills and the patch, but didn't like them at all. You don't even feel the ring when it's in. Talk to your doc about Nuvaring. (That sounded like a commercial. lol)

Last year I had my GYN insert a Meridia IUD... I have no complaints at all. Since it was put in I have had my period maybe 3 times (one of course was right before I had my WLS)
