Well I am 3 weeks out and feeling wonderful thanks to God. It has been extremely easy thus far that sometimes I wonder if the doctor really did anything in my tummy...LOL...I had surgery on February 17 and have lost 14 pounds. My doctor said that was good but I was just wondering how much everyone else is loosing around their 3 week mark.

Hi, I'm almost 4 weeks out on Monday. The day of surgery I weighed in at 315 and now I am 295 sooooo that means 20 pounds gone forever!!! I was also wondering if the doctor had done anything to my tummy but not any more...I tried to have some chicken (a small bite chewed really well) and my pouch didn't like it. It hurt sooo bad and the discomfort was horrible, so I know its there. Btw I wasn't dumping apparently I irritated my pouch. I am so glad to know you are doing great!! Way to go and keep up the good work!! Elisa

Hi Elisa! Congrats on your weight loss as well and glad to know you are doing well also. My pouch does not like bread at all...even in very tiny pieces and even though I chew it to death so I do know its there but I am just glad that I have not experienced the awful things some others have experienced. Anyway, well I started out at 308 before my surgery when I started my diet and managed to get down to 294 on the day of surgery and now I am at 280 so that is a total of 28 pounds total loss forever. I just get frustrated some days cause I want to lose more but my husband took my scale away and will only bring it out once a week for me to weigh in which is a good idea cause I was weighing every day and just getting frustrated when I would only lose 1 pound. Well thanks again and keep up the good work. Loretta

I had my surgery on the 17th as well. I had a check up Wednesday and was down 17 lbs. I had thought I lost 20 lbs by my scale, but I am more than satisfied with the 17 lbs. I have been sick for the past 2 days and not able to eat anything without feeling very nauseous, so I have just been concentrating on fluids and protein. I am sure I have lost a few more pounds because of that, but I am not going to weigh myself. Congratulations on your weight loss! Doesn't it feel good to be shedding the pounds? Hugs, Deanna

Hi Loretta, I had surgery 2/13. After a slow start (4lbs at my 2 week checkup) due to too many soups for protein, I've turned the corner and have now lost 21lbs in the last 2 weeks; 25 total. Not feeling my pouch yet either. It's all new discovery and takes time. Best of Luck to Everybody!!!! Jackie

Hi Loretta, We share a re-birth day. Unfortunately for me, my surgery came with complications. I am now almost 4 weeks out as you are, but I was wondering, you said you have not felt your pouch yet, does that mean nothing that you eat bothers you? I feel my pouch all the time, even with water. I spent at least 15 total in the hospital because I had an upper GI bleed and ended up after to be transfused, than I became dehydrated. I am doing much better now. Thank God. I am on puree's/chopped protein. My surgeon really just wants me to do the puree or blended because he does not want me to do anything to my pouch or anything that might cause anymore bleeding. I am trying different things but staying within what is exceptable. I was just wondering if you were experiencing any strange things with your pouch. Thanks.

Hi there! Well sorry that your surgery came with complications but I am glad to hear that you are on your way to healing and getting better. I did not have any complications and went home the very next day. I have been doing great and have been able to tolerate all the foods I have tried. I pretty much got to skip over the pureed stage and right now I am just trying different things in very small amounts and trying to get in all my protein and of course vitamind. I have not experienced strange things with my pouch except that it does not like really doughy bread. I do OK with bread but it has to be toasted. All in all, I have been doing Ok with all foods so far thank God. I hope that you continue to get better and if you have any other questions, just let me know. Loretta

Hi everyone!!! I had my surgery on Feb. 17th also. My weight before surgery by the Dr.'s scale was 295 and now I am down to 278. So, I am down 17 lbs. Wahooooooooooooooooo! Not bad in 3 weeks. I am so happy I had the surgery! I haven't had any problems with my "baby" pouch. My surgeon told me to drink hot decaf tea before every meal. That helps to relax the pouch and get rid of any secretions in your stomach/throat. It helps alot in the mornings. I am proud of all of our success! Bravo everyone! God Bless all of yall! Tamara

Congrats to all of us!!! I had surgery on 02-06-06 and I know that I already feel 100% better than I did pre-op. My health has totally sucked that last several years and I am thrilled to feel this great this soon. My weight and loss seems to fluctuate. I'm not exactly sure what I weigh. The day that I was put on my 10-day pre-op diet, I weighed in at a whopping 285.9 lbs.. At my two week follow-up (which was actually about 16 days), I was down to 265.4. I have a super fancy scale that measures all sorts of things (%body fat, %water weight, how many lbs. lost, etc.) and I can't seem to get a good (or at least a consistent) reading from it. I do know that I weighed on my daughter's scale today (03-11-06) and I weighed in at 259.5. Holy Cow if that's right then I guess that makes it 26.4!!!! Let's just say, I'm thrilled! I'm so proud of all of us! Tammy
