surgery postponed

I had a RNY surgery date of 2/28 which was postponed because of an email from medicare to my doctor. Medicare will not recognize provisional status of physcians office as a Center of Excellence. Must wait for finalization of paperwork and inspection of site. I was on my first of 4 days of clear liquid diet prior to surgery when I was notified it had to be postponed.

I am so sorry Nora! I had my surgery on Feb 27 but almost got it postponed because of that same Center of Expertise thing. I have Blue Cross. I actually did get a rejection notice from them and got on the phone, managed to find someone who said they couldn't do that because I was too far along in the process and by Friday afternoon before the suregry found out it was a go. It is a lot of ups and downs to go through when you are facing this surgery. Hang in there and know that when you are walking into the hospital for the surgery, it will seem as if the time has flown since your started to prepare for it!! Good luck, Julie B

Nora, I am so sorry to hear that. I know exactly how you feel. My original surgery was scheduled in Jan. and was postponed a month. It was so devastating at the time, but if you can get through it, believe me, you'll see that it was worth the wait. Hopefully, they'll clear it up and you'll be re-scheduled right away. Keep us posted.
