Home from surgery!
Had the surgery on Thursday, came home yesterday, Saturday. I feel pretty good. Had some nausea at first, but okay now. My new tummy is gurgling at me frequently, and hurts a little bit when I drink, as soon as I swallow my first sip Not bad though. I'm reading other posts, and can I just say that there are some people who get to have milk and bananas in their protein shakes already, and I'm JEALOUS. I haven't yet felt full, and already, just three days after, feel hungry. Or something similar. I'm sure most of it is in my head. I am worried about getting all of my fluids in. Has anyone sipped 3 oz of water over a half hour instead of 2? My new somach feels weird, but not really smaller. Not that I want to test that theory.
Anyways, It's over. Woo hoo! According to my scale, I'm down 8 pounds.
Welcome Home!
I'm glad to hear you are doing so well! My surgery is tomorrow. I hope I do as well as you do. I'm not sure about the feeling hungry thing, I guess I thought we just wouldn't feel hungry yet. I'm going to be able to take in anything that can go through a straw....so I guess I'll be able to do the banana's in whey powder...have you tried the whey powder yet? Keep up the good work!

Congrats on your surgery as well! yes, I have tried the whey...it's okay. It will be goos in a week or two when I can add some banana.
I'm sure your day will go as smoothly as mine will. Just try to relax, and go through the process of surgery and recovery. Good luck! Be sure to post when you get home.
I too had Lap RNY thursday and came home Sat. I am on liquids only every 15 minutes. alternating water, carnation instant breakfast, juice, watery mashed potatoes, watery cream of chicken soup. The soup and mashed potatoes make me feel full longer! I eat them 3x 15 minutes. I take it easy on the carnation instant breakfast and juice..it has sugar and makes me run to the restroom alot! Drink lots of water about 3 cups a day.Good Luck and keep me posted! ~Melissa
Dani, congrats to you for being a loser! I proudly welcome over to the winning side! I had my surgery on Wednesday, February 22nd and was let out of the hospital the same day as you, Saturday. So, I've been home for two days. (this being my third day home) I had open RNY and my bariatric surgery program's diet consists of clear fluids for the first two weeks. I can't have solids or even soft solids yet. Not until the dietician clears me to on March 8th. But I gotta tell you, I'm having a ball eating sugar-free posicles and SF jello and I can drink milk. Just skim or 1 %, though, which is fine with me. I just can't seem to get the full recommended daily amount the dietician wants me to get. Oh, and my tummy feels weird, too. It doesn't gurgle, but I definitely notice a change has taken place in my body!! I talk to my new little tummy. Not seriously; no one will have to have me committed for being nuts! I just talk some baby talk to my new addition....although, it's been with me my whole life and.....okay never mind. I'm just babbling. Anyhoo, I just wanted to write and congratulate you on a job well done. We'll be going through similar experiences, and I'll look forward to hearing how you're doing. Good luck and God bless!
