4 days post-op

I had my surgery last Friday, and came home on Sunday. Everything went very well. I was on a clear diet on Saturday and started pureed food on Sunday. I had to eat and make sure it stayed down before they would let me leave the hospital. I am getting all my protein in and working on the water. I don't seem to get in quite enough of that. I am still in a little pain but the meds help that (thank God for percocet!) and I am getting better every day. I am trying to walk a lot, and that helps too. I have not weighed myself since I have been home. I am trying to fight the temptation to do that. I go see my surgeon tomorrow to have a drain removed so maybe he will weigh me. Good luck to everyone on your surgeries! Hugs, Deanna

Deanna, sounds like your doing wonderfully! Lucky you, that you were able to start pureed foods so soon after surgery (wishing I could sink my teeth into a creamy soup ). I found walking helped a lot too, so glad I took the advice of my fellow OHer's and got up as soon as I could while in the hospital. I just wanted to congratulate you on doing so well, keep up the good work!! Elisa

You're very lucky that you can do pureed foods. Wow! I'm just counting the days (15) when I can have pureed foods. Congratulations on your WLS.

Thank you Elisa! Every day seems to get a little easier. I bought an elliptical over the weekend, so I could workout and burn more calories. How are you doing now? Hugs, Deanna

Deanna, I'm doing really good! I began on pureed/soft foods last week and I'm feeling so much better. I was just starting to stress about how to eat. But a friend (who also had the surgery recently) was kind enough to send me a copy of her doctor's rules. Also my hubby set up my treadmill which I've had and rarely used. I want to start walking on it because I've also been worried about losing muscle mass. There is just so much to think/worry about with this surgery but it's all worth it because my hard work will pay off and it will show soon. Take care, Elisa

Hi Deanna, I appreciated your encouraging post to me the other day. I came on today just in hope that you had posted a follow-up on your surgery. It sounds like you are doing great! Pureed food the next day is amazing. I go for my pre-op appointment today and my surgery is Monday. I can't wait to be on your side of it! Keep up the good work. Julie B

Congrats Deanna!I had my Lap RNY Feb 23 and doing great. I am on liquids only for first 2 weeks and after 2 weeks on reg. food. I am also in a little pain. What did you think about those drain tubes? (when they took them out) To me, it felt like a snake crawling around inside me. Hugs and Kisses to my WLS sister!~ Melissa

OMG, wasn't that the most uncomfortable, eerie feeling in your life???? I just don't think we should feel things like that going through our insides!! Glad to hear you are doing good! I am doing great also... the pain gets easier every day and I can just pop right up out of bed now which was a chore a few days ago. Hugs, Deanna
