3 Days Post-Op and Feeling Fine
Hi-
My name is Sharon Ramirez and I had a RNY lap at Abbott Northwestern Hospital on Wednesday. My surgeon was Dr. Raymond Drew and he was just great. I also had a good experience with the staff at the bariatric center, the folks in recovery and the nurses attending to me overnight. I was very surprised at how relatively painless it was (well, initially, they administered morphine for several hours post-op) and that I was already walking about 5 hours after surgery. I have been home for a few days now and have even ventured out and about. Folks that know I went through the surgery are surprised that I am doing well. I hope that this healing and progress continues. My husband was very frightened and hadn't been sleeping well for several weeks, and he is starting to feel less anxious now.
Now, I just need to follow the proper diet, get hydrated adequately, get in enough protein and exercise. The exercise will be the toughest but I already started using the treadmill yesterday. I hope I will continue on. I plan to attend the WLS support group at Abbott on Tuesday nights. It was a long journey. It took about 2 years to finally get the insurance to approve my surgery (Cigna PPO). For those of you that want to get info about what I did, you can email me back.
ALSO good luck to those that are about to have surgery. I hope your experience goes as smoothly as mine.
Sharon
Congrats and welcome to the lighter side of beng healthy. I had mine on the 6th and I am doing wonderful. My hubby came home from Iraq and will be home for 25 days and all he does is stare at me, it is so funny, so I know that I have lost something!!
You will be ok, just follow what the dr says and please stay hydrated. I hate water, but I love the crystal lite, so that is what I sip on but I think that I need to some water also, so I am going to go back to getting it in. I get in 50 grams of protein a day and sip the rest of the day on my clear liquids!!!!!!!
Just try your best honey and you will do fine!
Hugs,
Kennie
