I am a Feb 1 post op....I am hungry, too! I drink my protien no problem, have applesauce, cottage cheese, baby food meats (with bbq sauce) and water. My weight loss started out great guns, but is now at a standstill! i don't see the surgeon and dietician until the 27th....can you blow a pouch on so little? I have been worried.....I don't know if I am actually hungry, or head hungry. Sometimes, I think I eat out of habit not need.

HI FEB 1 BUDDY.... I don't think you've "blown" anything Sue. I think we dropped so much because of all the IV fluids they put in us. I have to get on a routine. I am not eating that much. I get hungry and then I eat something. I know in order for us to lose weight, we do have to eat. I never thought I would get to the point, where I have to force myself to eat! I am doing liquids today because pouch is tripping. She doesn't want anything. I feel bad after drinking the breakfast drink, water, and protein drinks. She is being a booger right now! Thinking about it, maybe it is this Propel water. I tried it yesterday and ever since I've been feeling crummy. 4EVA

I DO GET HUNGRY!!!! I am on the puree phase and I've tried some things and they are not agreeing with me. I drink my soup and protein drinks and feel . I've decided to do all liquids today and see what happens. I had my Carnation Instant Breakfast and felt a little nauseated. I don't know what's wrong. I know our pouches can be tempormental. One day you can eat this and then the next day it comes back at cha Remember that FOOD is the only thing that will keep you from being hungry. Once we are able to eat real food we should be fine. Right now we have to water down everything and in turn it is going right through us. Looks like broth will be my friend for a min. You know, I was so sick of broth when I HAD to drink it. Now my pouch is trippin'! 4EVA

Kristy, Thank you for sharing with us today! I had surgery the day before you. I'm on full liquids, including protein shakes, but not quite the same acceptable foods that you are on. I would be happy to get to eat cottage cheese and mashed potatoes. My doctor considers those part of the pureed diet which I start on Thursday. But all doctors are different and it sounds like you're doing great. I AM allowed Egg drop soup and a couple of ounces of that really satisfies me! I think the biggest thing for me when that head hunger starts and my pouch is rumbling (not from hunger, it does that from gas and the new digestive track trying to keep up wiht the changes), anyway, I have to remind myself that I asked for this tool. I'm working on changing my perception of food. If I really get to craving something, I remind myself that in (however many) weeks I can have a small amount of that thing. It's positive self talk and seems to be working for me. This is TOUGH. We're used to giving into our impulses. That's what got us here. If we don't change, we'll find ourselves right back here in two or three years when the pouch is stretched and the weight has returned. Time for a new attitude! New thinking. I'm trying hard. I know you are too. All of this newness and feelings of deprivation will lessen as we get used to eating smaller portions and limited food content. It WILL get better. Hang in there and I'll be praying for you today. Sincerely, Tracey Bateman

Hi, please don't feel bad. I had my WLS on Jan 27 since I left the hospital I was told by my Dr. puree food and was give the diet. No I am not hungry. I guess it's different for all. I have a friend who had it one year ago and she can't believe my Dr. has me on puree food like *****en, mash, cream of *****en soup, beans, but eveything has to be puree. To me I look at the food like my medicine. I don't feel like eating. This week I was told to start on soft food. My total weight lost has been 26 pound in 17 days. Good luck

Thanks you everyone for your replys. Its helps so much to hear from others going through the same thing!!! I had forgotten about egg drop soup. I had heard before to try that and I think I will....yummm I am going to continue my diet regiment as directed, but I see my doc Thurs for my 2 week follow up. I am going to ask about going to puree foods then. I could go for some steamed veggies pureed!! LOL.... Who would have thought we would have gotten so excited over such foods???? My weight loss is going slow, but I am just thankful I can get my protein and fluids in. I know the rest will come in time. Just to let anyone know what proteins I have found that work really well for me; A flavorless protein powder called ANY Whey that I got from GNC. I put it in everything: pudding, coffee, grits, eggs, potatoes. I haevn't tried it in jello yet. I have found that you have to be careful about how you mix it with hot items. I sprinkle it in after the food has been cooked. Another great tasting protein I enjoy is Pofect www.protica.com. It is a 2.9oz capsule with 25g of protein in it!!! And the taste is the best I have ever had. Good luck to you guys.....Thanks again for all your support!! Kristy
