Hello fellow Februarians.... I have a question for those of you post-op; my appetite has come back pretty strong. I had no appetite the first 3 days after surgery, but now I find I am hungry every couple of hours. I am following the diet protocol perfectly and am getting in 50+ protein each day. This just has me a little concerned because I was so hoping to go a little longer with no desire to eat :~o Also, I can get in 4oz. cottage cheese, or grits, pudding, and 1 whole egg without any problems. I am eating about every 2 hours one of the foods indicated above followed by about 12oz. water each hour. I feel so blessed that so far nothing has upset my pouch or hasn't gone down. I would love to hear others experiences in eating 1-2 weeks post-op. Good Luck and Best to all.....I hope everyone is having a successful journey! Kristy

Beth, I also have to be on a liquid diet for 3 weeks after surgery. But they are considering cottage cheese, pudding, grits, eggs, etc. to be a 'full' liquid diet. Mostly I have to make sure everything is thinned out with no lumps. I don't know that I could handle clear liquids for 3 weeks :0 Best of luck to you! Kristy

I was happy to see your post I feel the same way only I have not tried to eat anything. I had my surgery on the 8th thank god I feel as good as I do it only seems to good to be true. I am literaly starving. I told this to a woman from my support group who had the surgery in Dec. and she said it is a mind thing. Well last time I checked my mind was in my head my stomach is growlin HAHAHAH. I cant believe you can eat food! You werent told to be on a liquid diet. I was told 3 weeks I dont know if I can make it. I was glad I was able to talk to someone with the same problem. Let me know how you make out good luck and god bless. When did you have your surgery

Hi Sherri I had my surgery on Feb. 3rd. I understand about the head hunger....its not my head growlin!! And I do feel the difference between head hunger and real hunger. I am missing that 'going out to eat' factor. My family went out to eat often and I miss the socialization part of it. My doc wants me on full liquids for three weeks (cottage cheese, thin grits, thin mashed potatoes, pudding) I'm not sure I am going to make it till the third week on just that!! Best to you... Kristy

Hi Julie, I could use ALL the wls buddies I could get ;) Its so great to connect with you guys and hear how everyones journey is going. Maybe next February we can plan a one year get together????? Isn't it amazing how all the docs are different? I have a friend who had this surgery 19 months ago and they had her eating mashed potatoes before she left the hospital :~o I wasn't tempted by any foods the first few days, but once the soreness and queasiness went away......along came that big appetite that put me in this position to begin with!!! Have to say I haven't really been exercising; however, I have been trying to do some walking daily. I have 2 little boys I run after all day and I am packing up my house and preparing to move. So, I do feel like I have been getting a workout. My weight loss has not been as good as I would hope. The day before my surgery I weighed 295; the day I came home from surgery I weighed 304 (had an extra 3 liters of fluid due to difficulty urinating) and today, Mon. 10 days post op, I weigh 287. So really only 8lbs. . Stay in touch and let me know about your journey. Good luck.....Kristy

Well, I am already jealous and I haven't even had surgery yet. My doctor will put me on a strict 6 weeks liquid diet and then 4 weeks of soft foods before I can try anything else. It looks like to me that much food would stretch your pouch. I wish you well in your journey and I look forward to being on the losing side on the last day of the month. Jean *16 days to go By the way, remember not drink anything before or after eating for at least 30 minutes to retain that full feeling. HTH

I'm having the same problems 3 days out. I posted on the Main board and got lots of feedback. Basically all this liquid just goes straight thru your pouch. So you have no feeling of full. They said measure everything and that once I got on mushy, semi solids you'd start to feel fuller. How are you getting all the protein in? I have tried the Profect and Isopure drinks... they taste nasty. I tried the unflavored powder in jello and it sunk to the bottom and tasted .... nasty. I'm getting the liquids in but I'm not sure of the protein. I am however getting 4 gummy vitamins in every day.
