I never went to see my surgeon for the last check up that was supposed to be in November, I keep putting it off. Can't believe it's a year already. I don't have any questions specific to the RnY, but I do have some questions about my hernia repair. I do follow up with my PCP every other month, so I know my labs are good [in fact, very good from January].
What questions do you have?
I'm not really sure. I know this sounds bad-but sometimes I feel like I know more about all this than they do at the office. The Nut. Is just the most awful thing ever-and my surgeon is awesome with the surgical aspects...but...I've learned more doing my own research. I was hoping to get some new ideas for questions...lol. Plus-I am scared to be honest with them about certain things, because they don't offer any support-just a horrible LASHING that makes you just want to act like you are doing EVERYTHING PERFECT everyday..and be done with them. I have to see them for my one year-but I think I'll do my labs with my pcp like you. Do you get a full liver panel workup when you get your labs done?
Are you feeling okay GG?

I think it's QUITE possible that we know more than the surgeon/nut about some things because of all the research we do. I ended up hating my nut and stopped seeing her after my 2nd follow up after surgery. She was terrific pre-op but post-op she was a jerk. Actually, I don't like my surgeon too much either, which is part of why I'm avoiding him, but I can't imagine him LASHING at me, that would definitely make me stay away. I was reading my old blogs and the last time I saw him he said he expected me to lose about 100 pounds total, and I've lost 143ish now, so I guess I did OK?
My PCP is awesome and has really rallied for me all along. She has done a full liver panel every couple of months or more since surgery because my numbers had been off [now they are great].
Like I said, my labs in January were great. I need to get into the surgeon and plastics to discuss my hernia repair, I'm just waiting on a good time.
When is your follow up?

Well, I just got on this today. My old surgeon doesn't take my insurance anymore and I didn't love him anyway, so I got a new [more local] one today. My follow up is March 21st. I have about 18 pounds till goal, wonder if I can get there by then?
Good luck with your appointment, keep us posted!
I haven't scheduled a 1 year visit yet. I have been going every week since christmas and i'm still having pressure, reflux, and nausea. I'm have an endoscopy on the 19th and my anniversary is on the 22nd.
It's a special anniversary because it's also my mom's birthday and she passed away in 2003. I knew having my surgery on her birthday would be special. I beleive in the date having a special meaning. Now, why things fell apart on christmas of last year is beyond me. I have a numerical memory and remember dates and number related things.
I will post my 1 year at the end of the month. It's way too early.
I do know that I"m way off on my physicians charts, I should be 134, I'm holding at 170ish with these complications. I plan on seeing a dr this week for some unresolved issues (not rny), along with seeking appropriate treatment for my Endo.
Good Luck and enjoy your day! I was thinking of buying a valentines day nightie.
I will get my sexy back like Justin Timberlake. Thank god I'm married.

Yeah, I want to know why I can't stop eating and weigh 195 pounds. Whats wrong with me? Everyone else was able to get to at least 150 but no, that could not have been me. I eat more food now than I did before surgery. Help me. I need another sugery but this time, they need to make the hole in my face smaller to keep the food out. Good luck to all of the rest of you that have done so well. I am struggling with this and don't know if I am sabataging myself. I don't need a shrink I just think I am stressed. Thanks for asking what I am going to discuss.
