How many of you reached goal at 1 year? MORE questions for YOU
I have not, but if i didn't lose another pound I'm so much happier than I was before so it was worth it.
My friend lost every pound and then some her first year, I have lost over 1oo lbs, and still have a little ways to go, I know I'm eating well, and doing all the right things so i am not tripping on it at all
1) How do you feel coming up on your 1 year anniversary?
2) How is life different for you?
3) Would you do it all over again?
4) how much have you lost (if you want to share)
5) How much more do you have to go till goal?
6) What's the best thing that's happened since WLS
7) What's the worst thing since WLS?
I have 3 weeks until my one year anniversary from surgery. I have lost 165 pounds which puts my at 167 pounds and my surgeon told me I would probably be 160 in one year when I saw him at 3 months. However when I saw him at 6 months he said I would probably get down to 135-140. I'm like you in that if I didn't lose another pound I would be completely satisfied at where I am even though I'm still considered obese at my 5'1" height. To answer your questions..
1. I feel fabulous
2. I can move around so much easier and have much more confidence in myself.
3. Absolutely positive yes.
4. As stated above.....preop weight 332....current weight 167.
5. I'd like to lose another 10 pounds which would put me below 160.
6. I fit into a size 10 jeans.
7. The sagging loose skin.
This is a good post,

4) how much have you lost (if you want to share) 194 lbs since Feb 20th.
5) How much more do you have to go till goal? 11 to my 1 year goal and 26 for my final goal.
6) What's the best thing that's happened since WLS? Just getting healthier really, getting rid of diabetes before it got out of control, sleep apnea, and just being slimmer.
7) What's the worst thing since WLS? The psychological effect it has on you, I'm a totally different person physically and mentally. but I'd still do it over again.

1) How do you feel coming up on your 1 year anniversary?
Good. I've felt good for months now.
2) How is life different for you?
I am healthy, no more GERD, sleep apnea, high BP, diabetes in remission, depression is gone, bulimia in remission. I can move better, I am not tired all of the time, my heel spurs don't hurt as much [nor do they need surgery]. My allergic asthma is better. I have less anxiety attacks. I have a part time job and I do more activities with my daughter and my family. I could go on and on, life is very different now that I am physically and mentally healthy.
3) Would you do it all over again?
Sure, wi**** was done sooner.
4) How much have you lost?
142 pounds

1) How do you feel coming up on your 1 year anniversary?
I feel awesome! I am a much healthier and happier person today.
2) How is life different for you?
Life is different for me because I have more self-confidence now. I am able to do alot of things that I was not able to do before. Just being a healthier person is great!
3) Would you do it all over again?
Absolutely! I do not regret one thing.
4) how much have you lost (if you want to share)
I have lost a total of 120 lbs.
5) How much more do you have to go till goal?
My surgeon's goal was 177 and I am at 189 so 12 lbs. to go. I, myself, would love to be at 150 someday.
6) What's the best thing that's happened since WLS
I am able to shop anywhere, at any store I want!!! Yay!!!
7) What's the worst thing since WLS?
Nothing that I can think of. Maybe just that sometimes I still see the "old" me and I still have to remind myself I am not the same person I was a year ago.
Hello everyone!! I don't normally post too often, but I really want to respond to this becaue I think I can offer another perspective that not too many pre-ops see out there. I am not negative about this surgery, but in being honest with myself and everyone else, these are my responses:
1) How do you feel coming up on your 1 year anniversary?
I am somewhat disappointed that my 1 yr. is coming up and I am still struggling on a daily basis with what to eat. (same thing as before surgery. my brain has little to no change since surgery. I dealt with these issues for 38 years and probably will forever)
2) How is life different for you?
I am not any healthier. I was very healthy, active, self-confident at 300+#'s. I do have more self-esteem and no longer worry about fitting into booths or certain places. It is nice to be able to cross my legs, sit in the floor w/o worrying about the embarassment of getting back up. Mentally, I don't know that I feel any different than I did over 100#'s ago!
3) Would you do it all over again?
Some days the answer to this is yes, but many days it is no. I have actually felt physically worse since surgery. My back hurts all the time, I have been to the ER five times with severe abdominal pain and been thru every test imaginable and they can't find anything wrong! I have experienced extreme fatigue on and off for the entire year. But, yes, I do look better in clothes! I enjoy going clothes shopping now. But life for me was happy and content before surgery, so just being smaller doesn't make life any more grand than it was.
4) how much have you lost (if you want to share)
I have lost 100#'s since the surgery but a 140#'s total from my heaviest.
5) How much more do you have to go till goal?
My surgeons goal was 170, if I don't lose anymore I am happy with my loss. I am focusing now on not gaining. I still have psychological issues with portion control.
6) What's the best thing that's happened since WLS
really? nothing. again, my life was good pre-op and post-op! but fitting into a nice pair of low-rise bootcut jeans does make me feel really good!! ;)
7) What's the worst thing since WLS?
the constant fatigue, the abdominal pain attacks that no one seems to know what is causing them. sometimes these spells can last 10-12 hours and totally drain me physically to the point I usually spend an entire day in bed! btw, my bloodwork which has been done repeatedly the last few months is normal. According to my surgeon, gastroenterologist, and pcp i should be healthy as a horse! :~0
Also, on the talk of having a baby. I am currenty trying to get pregnant. We really wanted one more baby before surgery and still do!!! IN MY OPINION, having two kids already, a baby is so worth any fat they bring!!! Seeing that baby look up at you is the most special feeling in the world!
Well, there's my .02cents. Just another point of view out here!!
btw, I finally made the century club and onederland!! weight is now 198!
Take care,
Kristy
1) I feel awesome! I went into this to get healthy and am healthy.
2) I now go to the gym regularly and eat really healthy. My family eats healthier now too.
3) In a heartbeat!
4) I've lost a total of 133 lbs (counting the presurgery loss)
5) I hit goal 3 lbs ago. I'm actually under goal and will be even further under when I get my tummy skin removed.
6) The best thing is being approached at the gym to be a success story. It's nice to have the people at the gym notice how hard you've worked!
7) My huband is having a hard time adjusting to my new body. He's being a wee bit jealous.
Unfortunately I won't reach goal after only one year (I had over 200 lbs to lose), my anniversary date is 2/21/07.
1) How do you feel coming up on your 1 year anniversary? I feel great and wish I had started my journey when I first considered it (12 months earlier).
2) How is life different for you? I don't get winded, tired, have difficulty putting on socks/shoes, etc.
3) Would you do it all over again? YES Definately !
4) how much have you lost (if you want to share) So far include 19 pre-op, I've lost 137 lbs .
5) How much more do you have to go till goal? For my goal it's 72, my doctor's goal is 97 more (I have never weighed 125 lbs except when I was probably 8 years old).
6) What's the best thing that's happened since WLS, the fact that I no longer eat a whole pizza in one sitting (I'm lucky if I can eat 3 small slices and then only if it's thin crust).
7) What's the worst thing since WLS? Constipation early out (has improved a lot since around the 8th month) .
1. I feel like a new person. I have more self confidence and feel healthier.
2. Not worried about what others are thinking about how I look.
3. In a heartbeat!
4. 100 lbs.
5. below goal. Mine and Dr. goal was 145 and I am at 130 now.

7. Husband is jealous of my new body and now we are seperated because of it.
GREAT posts everyone, thank you so much for sharing, I love reading what you wrote.
As for those that didn't make goal, don't lose a bit of sleep over it, I have not reached goal, and am just losing a little slower, but as long as we are better, healthier, happier, and still on track, or get back on track then you are ok.
Good luck to all of you fellow winner of losers;)
