I started using fitday again today. It's really takes quite a bit of time to enter all the foods & stuff. But anyway I think I need to do it. Question for those of you using fitday. How many calories are you consuming a day? I entered everything I had today...ok 'cept for that cup of coffee...and according to fitday.com I consumed a grand total of 1340 calories . Is that too much? Funny thing is none of it was junk food. Also, I'm not exercising like I should but I did do a lot of shopping=walking today. Thanks! Elisa

You sound about right for almost a year out. Trust me, you don't want to know how much I eat a day. I probably eat more than you and your husband combined! LOL Elisa, you really need to exercise. Get your huband to walk with you. I want my surgery twin to be as successful as possible!

I try to keep it under 1000, I have never asked my nut. In the begginning the phone nut told me I shouldnt be having to count my calories. She was down right rude. So I havent called and ask them nothing. I just try to keep it under 1000. Some days I dont make it. I also exercise every day. I walk 30 minuetes on the treadmill every day. I havent lost much in the last four months so dont know If you should listen to me. I think I have lost just to gain it back the first of the month I was at 208 now I am back up to 211. I cant figure it out. I just keep trying. Good luck lov marie

I know this will sound strange, but Marie, you may not be eating enough. If you're exercising 30 minutes a day, your body might be in starvation mode. That's happened to me. Try adding 300-400 EXTRA calories every 3rd day to trick your body. So eat normal 2 days, eat more a day, eat normal 2 days, eat more a day, and run in cycles like that. Try that for a few weeks and see what happens. What's your protein intake? Water intake? Are you keeping your carb count low? You should be at LEAST 100 protein if you're exercising and at LEAST 100 oz of water. Try to keep the carb count for the entire day under 75. I know that's a lot to keep track of. But, give it a try.

I have tried everything. I have went to liquids for three days. Nothing but protein. I keep my protein above 60 everyday. Usually between 70 and 90. I dont eat bread, pasta, milk, or anything with sugar in the first three ingredients, I drink lots, I dont keep track of my drinking no more. I drink at least a 70 ozs a day and that would be a bad day of drinking. I drink 3 cups of water every morning first thing. And after that it is crystal light and tea with equal all day. My menu consist of yogurt, tuna, salads, an occassional bannana (maybe two per week.) and mostly meats. I eat a lot of meat, smoked turkey, fish, shrimp, I avoid potatoes mostly. but take a bite or two on occasion. I dont eat cereal. and avoid crackers. I dont know what I am doing wrong. I do 30 minutes on the treadmill almost every day. I do have a sendentry lifestyle. I dont do a lot expecially in the winter. I just dont get it. I also do pilates at least three times a week for probale ten to twnty minutes. I cant figure it out. I have only lost like 15 pds in four months, but I have went down from a 20 to an 18 in pants size. Nobody comments on my weight loss. And my aunts tell me that this surgery doesnt work for everyone. I dont know what I am doing wrong.

Elisa, By any chance is the smoked turkey processed like lunch meat type of turkey? If so this can have a large amount of sodium which can cause you to retain fluids. You could also be going through a platuea (however, in order for it to be a plateau then you'd have to have had no weight loss or inches lost in over 6 weeks or more). Sometimes our bodies do go through stages where it doesn't know how to react to what we've had done. I haven't lost but 2 lbs over the last 6 weeks but have lost another 6 inches. So I know I haven't quite hit a plateau "yet". You also may want to write down everything you put in your mouth. Sometimes when we do the occasional bite here and there it can add up to calories/fat that can make a difference. I mean if you eat a couple bites of potatoes (depending on the bite that could be a small serving). I mean, 1/2 cup of potatoes is about 80 calories (more if there is butter on them). That would is nothing but wasted calories. Try writing everything down that you eat and then at the end of the day, total everything up. Every little bite. The surgery will work for everyone if they follow the rules. Some choose not to follow the rules and for those it won't work. I know we don't eat like we use to (bags of chips in one sitting), but we do occasionaly slip back and add a snack in here and there. I for one have major trouble with frito corn chips. I won't let my Dad buy the big bags any more (my occasional handfulls would equal over 1 oz worth which is more then what's in the normal serving bag). So now we will buy the single serving bags and I'll have one or two from his bag. Don't worry, you will continue to do okay. Give it time. Remember, if the scale doesn't show it but the inches are still going down, you're on the correct path. If you haven't already done so, take you measurements and compare once a month. You'll see a result there I'm sure. Good luck, Robin

Hi Elisa! I use Fitday.com almost religiously except sometimes I slack off on the weekends. But I have averaging about 900-1200 depending but a day or two sometimes more. It just really depends.

I have been using fitday.com religiously since just after surgery. I average between 900-1200 calories per day. My nutritionist says that sounds about right for someone one year post-op. She says that she'd like for me not to go over 1200 calories, if I could. I usually don't. Jen Halliday
