Lap Band Weight Loss Totals PLEASE!
Hello, My name is Bree and I usually stay on the Lap Banb board, or the CT board. Its a great place to be and I have a great group of support people there, however sometimes its hard to get advise or to compare to someone in a similar situation.
I have my Lap Band Surgery on 2-1-06 and I started the whole thing at 262. (pre-op weight) I am currently at 228. I go up and down like 2 lbs everyday.
The scale really hasnt gone down significantly in like 3 mos i think.
My questions is how much has everyone lost total.
I'm starting to feel like I'm failing at this.
I have 4 cc's in my 5cc band and I only have a very little restriction.
I can eat lots and Yes i know the lap band rules, but if I was good at sticking to healthy/low carb/low fat things then I wouldnt be here.
any thoughts are appreciated. I am curious to see what everyone else around my surgery date for lap band is doing, and how much you have in your band and what you have for restriction.
Thank you so much for letting me vent and I hope to hear from you!
Bree
Hey Bree,
I didn't have the lap band, but from my understanding weight loss with the band is much slower then with other surgeries. It can take up to 3 years for you to lose to your lowest weight.
I really don't have any advice, except to go speak to your surgeon, perhaps you need more restriction? But even with more restriction, you have no malabsorbtion so you'll need to really watch your sugar and carb intake. Have you tried using fitday.com and log your food? Sometimes it helps to keep a record of what your eating so that you can see where your calories are coming from.

Hi Scott, thanks for the reply.
I have an appt with my nutrtionist on the Mon the 13th. I will ask her to help me out a bit.
You would think with a 5cc band being filled to 4cc's I would feel more restriction than i am now.
I have also had opinions from other bandsters that I should have an x-ray to make sure everything looks like its in the right spot, and I have eat more portion-wise than other people I've talked to as well.
will see what surg/nut say.
thanks again, I appreciate the time!

Bree,
I am having the same issues. I was at 244 at surgery, now I am hovering around 200/201. I go up and down the same 3 pounds for weeks. I'll admit though, I haven't been eating all that great. I have been snacking, so I know I need to stop that. I have started to exercise more and I see feel better. Where in CT are you? I work in Middletown but live in Colchester.
Vanessa
Hi Vanessa, I live right on the CT/MA line. In north central CT.
Yeah I love food, thats MY problem. But I guess thats why we are all here huh?
I had phneumonia (sp?) and had to stop going to the gym, and I couldnt breath when NOT excersizing. So we will see how that goes. I am sitll coughing a bit, but not too bad.
I hope that "starts" me up again.
Please keep writing, I'd love to keep in touch.

Hi Bree,
I had my lap band done on February 13, 2006. I have 4.5 in my vanguard band. I have lost 85 pounds but have found myself snacking more this last couple of weeks and I have days that I seem to be able to eat more than others. There are times that I can eat but a couple of bites and I get that feeling in my chest and have to stop.
Just spent 3 days is Las Vegas, BUFFETS!!!! Didn't eat like I used to but more than I should have. I did have to leave the table once Pbing. Awful. UP TWO POUNDS.
I am due for my 4th fill on the 20th Three days before Thanksgiving!!!!
Good luck and keep trying.

Hello there,
I had my lap band done on 2/2/06 and have gone from 218 the day of surgery to 185 now...i've been stuck for the last 2 months at least. I don't exercise as i should, but working 8 hours sometimes knocks me out.
I have gone from an 18/20/22 to a loose 14, so it has worked, I just need to work more with it.
