Hiya Gosh. I come here and read sometimes, I think I just got tired of talking about WLS all of the time, I actually kinda sorta feel normal and have nothing to complain about LOL.
I'm doing very well, thanks. I did find out over the summer that I have a rather large hernia [it's like small people boob sized, right next to my vertical scar]. It doesn't bother me much, but limits what exercise I can do. I wanted to take belly dancing and kick boxing and yoga, but now that will have to wait a bit. I was actually thrilled to have it since it should ensure that I get a tummy tuck out of the deal. I had said that I never wanted to have surgery again, but since I HAVE to, I am happy to have the opportunity to have a flat stomach again.
I have no problems with food, I can EAT! and so far have tolerated everything I have tried. I even had a sliver of cheesecake on my birthday. As long as I pay attention to the portion sizes I feel good and am satisfied! I enjoy food in a different way, if I don't enjoy it, I don't eat it, which is a huge accomplishment.
My activity level over the summer was super high, I didn't have any structured exercise, but was feeling good and getting out a lot. In Septemeber, I bought a treadmill so when the yucky weather comes I will have an outlet to burn all the calories I take in! I've done it about twice a week since getting it, but we're still getting out on the boardwalk and the like a lot, so I'm not overly worried. I'd like to do it at least 3x a week once the winter hits.
I am super vigilant with my vitamins and protein shake every morning. I still log all of my intake on FitDay and am getting at least 1200 calories in a day, at least 100g of protein, at least 70 ounces of fluids. I would like to tweak the calories a bit, cut down on the fat and carbs will lower the calorie count for sure, and I know I can get more fluids in, if I put more effort in. That's my goals for this next month. I am also seriously considering joining WW again, I lost 110+ pounds with them before I got preggo and I think it's a great, healthy, easy way to eat. I think it may be a little easier to keep track of my intake, the only think that is holding me back is the cost and the weekly weigh in. Right now I only weigh on the 1st for charting, and the 15th [my anniversary date]. I don't like being a slave to the to the scale, though, so I haven't made the commitment.
My blood work was spot on except for my liver function tests, which we suspect is fatty liver slowly resolving itself. I have to have a sono of my belly to make sure no ducts are blocked [I had my gallbladder out years ago], but we don't think it's that since I have no pain.
I am FINALLY feeling a little difference in my size. My old bras fit now [the pretty ones! - which is good because without a bra my boobs are like loooong floppy pancakes]. I am still wearing my big clothes and some of the middle size clothes that I had from right after I had Jessica and had lost about 40 pounds. Things are baggy and I hadn't minded, but just recently I was wishing I could afford to buy me some pants and tops that actually FIT. I am FEELING smaller, which is cool, even though I'm still over 200lbs. If I think about it I still worry that I won't lose any more weight, but OTOH, I am beyond thrilled with my health and well being at this weight. If I never lost another pound I would still consider myself lucky.
Hmmmm, what else? My daughter started school and is doing AMAZING. She's also in ballet twice a week, and we're trying to get her into soccer. With school 2 days a week and ballet supposed to be once a week, I thought that would be MORE than enough, but every day the first thing she says when she wakes up is 'what are we doing today, mom?' So this week we are adding a second ballet class at her request and next Sunday we will try soccer, again at her request. We had such a busy summer and she's thrived with all the activity, so I think it will be fine.
I was thinking the other day that even though I don't post I'll do the chart FOREVER. But it dawned on me that not long from now we will all have made goal and there won't be a need for a chart, I don't know why that's a tiny bit sad for me, I suppose it's my connection to everyone since I haven't been an active poster.
So that's the SHORT version, ha ha, betcha your sorry you asked ...

WTF!!!!
You mean there's life after WLS??????? No Way!!!!!!!
Sorry about the hernia, but like you say, it's a mixed blessing. Way to go towards the TT! I'm a naughty gal I don't do the exercise thing I am able to move my body more, but I don't strive to be an olympiad, just a normal person able to go about my day, you know?
Food. I'm glad you're not having problems. The cheesecake must've been wonderful! I still have problems with dense food, but surprisingly enough, I don't have a problem with sugar/dumping. A mixed blessing, that. I eat a lot of mush. My mom got me the perfect practical gag gift, a fifty pound bag of dried pinto beans. I'll never be hungry again..... I don't count calories. I just make sure I meet my protein and fluid goals, and don't worry about the rest. I know that sounds silly, but I'm just so happy to be where I am, I'm not too worried about the next 50lbs. If I do, great, if I don't, that's fine. I've become less of a slave to the scales, the more normal I've felt. My bloodwork is normal for the first time in more than a decade. The girls at my local support group were getting on me about the carbs in my PowerCrunch bar, and the dietician shut them up, that all carbs are not created equal. Kinda funny, really.
Years ago, I had to have my liver biosied, because of bad bloodwork. Come to find out I had a fatty liver, whodathunkit? So, I got the standard lecture to loose weight, and went about my life. I wouldn't worry to hard over it. For me, with just the +/-80lbs down, the tests are clear.
Clothes. It's strange how the inches come off, even when the pounds don't. I've been within the same 5 pound range for a couple of months now, but my clothes don't fit. I went to an interview and had to wear a different dress, because the one I intended to wear looked like a potato sack. Just a few weeks ago it was too tight to sit comfortablely(sp). I still fight against uniboob. The sports bra's don't itch as much as conventional bras, but I have to inact the seperation of church and state, every couple of hours, if you know what I mean...
Kids. (I shoud include my husband in this title ) My goodness, she keeps you busy. Scerick joined the cub scouts, and I can't afford the uniform. Woe is me. He's doing the popcorn sales, but we're not getting too far, as he's not allowed to go door to door out of uniform. I tried to get some online people to order from the site, so he could get credit, but we're not having much luck. He's excited about the Scouts, though. I think it's good for him to socialize with some different people.
Even if we reach a point that we don't need the chart (I can't believe someone already reached goal !!!! WTG!!!), we will still need our friends, don't be a stranger, friend!
Gosh
Hey Grouchetta....
Not sure if I've ever been on your chart but here goes...I have a chart of my own on a program called fit.com
I've come a long way babY! down from 440 to 277.2 woo hoo! count em' that's 163 pounds gone and lost forevever. I am very proud of this. I feel so much healthier even at 277. I am tall and have large bones so when I get to 200 I will slow down some. It's so exciting now that I think about it. 200 is not that far off. When I started, it was 200 pounds off....now look...wow. My doc thinks I will stabilize around 180 pounds. Works for me. I am a lot more active and am enjoying life more.
Thanks for being on here and being an inspiration!
talk to you soon,
Lori
