Kid's Menu

Hello everyone, I started a new job on Sept. 1st. I was really excited because I was going into this new job thinner and not worried about anyone wondering what happened to me or any knowledge of my surgery. A few weeks into this job and I started thinking, I want to tell people. I am so darn proud of myself and the fact that I have lost almost 100 #s (4 to go baby!!). None of these people can appreciate the fact that I've come this far because they do not know about my surgery. I decided to tell one person and she was so amazed and just kept saying that it was such a blessing. She's right it really is! Now, on the Thursday the whole unit about 5 people went out to eat lunch to celebrate 2 co-worker's birthdays. They giggled at the fact that I ordered from the Kid's menu. They got such a kick out of it-because they said the waitress had this funny, surprised look in her face. I didn't feel bad, I laughed too. They all thought I was not eating much because I was being "shy" or whatever. They thought it was funny and said how I acted like I was on a "first date". I just smiled and told them I REALLY can't eat that much but no one questioned why? I don't know if I really want to say anything since my super. and another co-worker are about the size I used to be and I don't want to make them feel weird or change their perception of me. Anyway, what do you guys think? Has anything like this happen to any of you? Elisa btw, the kid's menu item was HUGE...more than a normal adult serving size .

Now, it's my turn to say how cute you look in your new board picture!!! I'm glad you are enjoying your new job. Congrats! My life is so sheltered. I work in a small office. Most of the time, it's just me and a single co-worker here together. She's my bestest friend, next to my husband of course. And, the entire office not only knows about my surgery, but they have all been the best support team I could ever hope for. I've ordered off the kid's menu quite a few times. I've got those funny looks too. And, I've even had one waitress tell me I couldn't since I was under 12. My husband and I left and went elsewhere. I get the strangest looks when asked what I want to drink and I say nothing. They ask "Do you want some water?" and when I say "No. But, thanks for asking." they REALLY look at me strange. My mother-in-law got such a kick out of the look on the waiter's face a few weekends ago. She's still talking about it. On to my mother-in-law. I know I've shared with you how mean she's been to me in the past. Would you believe now that I'm 100 lbs lighter, she treats me like a person? Sigh.

OK ...(yes momma you look so hot!!!!!) I was a server for many many years and when an adult ordered off the kids menu i got so piisy (i worked at a Disney resturant where people ordered off the kids because they were to cheap to eat off the adult not cause they had WLS) but this stigma stuck with me so when i order now (and yes i order kids meals) I say " look i sued to be a server and i want you to know upfront i had WLS and i eat from a kids menu. I will tip you just as good as i did if i odered a reg meal but i cant eat that much and i just dont want 100 take out boxes in my fridge " lol it is amazing how cool they are. ONCE i had a server tellme i could not...I said hmm then charge me for a full size meal and bring me the kids if this is the issue and she looked at me like i was a nut she said i cant do that (and i knew she coulnt becuase if how the computers work) and she went and got the manager lol and i told him.....need less to say i showed pics he asked tons of questions and BAM i got my kids meal AND IT WAS FREE! lololololol most servers dont care the onkly reason they get mad is cause its less that you can tip on. which is why i state that upfront. Now about you not telling your co workers thats up to you..ME im a ham and i tell everyone. but nothign really is hidden when it comes to me. i am all " i had WLS and i went to costa rica to have it and dont i look hot " lolol but not everyone is as forward as me lol BUT i also have a bad habit of NOT wantiong what is on the kids menu and getting what i want and completely over ordering. all my friends know when they go out with me if i order of adult menu they dont have to order as much lol i will even give my food to a complete stranger as not to take it home lol. well i hope my rambleing helped or at least was entertaining J

Hello Lady (and you know I think you look HOT too!) I recently went out to lunch with a bunch of coworkers for Chinese food, and I ate a little bit of this and that (no noodles or rice) and my coworker sitting across from me said "Liz you're not eating anything", and so I just told her "I'm just trying a little bit of everything, it's all so good". And afterwards I told her privately that I'd had surgery and I just can't eat that much. She said that she was sorry if she embarrassed me, and I told her not at all. I'm really proud of you, you look so amazing. Hugs, Liz

Elisa! You're looking great gal! How's your hubby doing? I know just how you feel in that new job. I've disclosed to a few people in my office what has gone on and they can hardly believe it. They understand that I don't eat much and when I go to a lunch out, I usually get a salad and cannot fini**** anyway. But try to get some protein on it and just eat as much as I can and stop. It's nice to be able to stop. Last weekend I went to a buffet with some family and fixed my salad and had a portion of roast beef and one cube of watermelon one cube of cantelope some cooked carrots and my brother was amazed at how much I could eat. I had to explain to him, it's mostly because the salad fruit and veggies turn to water, that portion of meat was about 3 ounces and so it was like a normal meal. I told him, I did really well..some days all I want is a cheese stick. I get in that restaurant for the child buffet. I really don't mind anymore. At first I would just pay full price and then hardly eat but you know....we deserve to not have to do that. They aren't losing money on me by anymeans. Anyway, Good for YOU! I know that it's a new and exciting environment for you! My best wishes for you.

Not exactly the same, but I did start a new job after the majority of my weightloss and also decided to tell one person about my experience. I wasn't hiding it, so she mentioned it to a couple of others and everyone has been great about it, except there's one person who say "you're so skinny" everytime she sees me. Mind you, she never saw me overweight, so it's not like shes amazed at what she's seeing or anything. It's weird, I don't know how to react so I reply with the same thing everytime, "I'm getting there". But whay does she feel the need to call me skinny EVERYTIME she walks by??? As far as eating and people noticing the small amount, it's no big deal for me. Ordering from the kids menu might call more attention to you, which I don't do, so I wouldn't know about that. Kids meals, even in restaurants, are not good for you anyway. I always order from the adult menu and take leftovers home, if that's not an option, I always get a soup/salad or an appetizer. That way, I'm still eating healthy and I don't feel bad about wasting so much food.
