As you guys know, my new found love is riding my bike. I had it fixed this week so didn't get to ride much. This morning I took off on it and rode what feels like a new bike with a new me....surprisingly and this is my wow moment, I rode up a hill without much effort. amazing to me cause I could barely walk up that hill before I had surgery and now I am riding my bike up it. I have to say, I feel so much better after I go out and ride for 30 minutes or so. I still feel like I get stared at cause I am still overweight, but I have adapted the attitude that is ...."I am out here doing this activity and I should be proud of myself..." self talk is so powerful! I may go out a little later and go for another ride. I'm thinking....what will I do when the winter gets here? I'll have to figure something else out. Any suggestions?

Good for you! I love these WOW moments. As to winter, I live in CA and there's no such thing here. It's either wet or dry. The temp pretty much stays the same. Maybe you can get ons of those things to lift the rear wheel and ride the bike inside ... watching the travel chanel on TV and pretend you're riding your bike around the world. I know this sounds silly. But, I used to do that on my exercise bike. I go to the YMCA and workout. Is there a gym near you?

Thanks for the ideas...maybe I'll just have to migrate to California so I can ride my bike. It's too cold here in the winter...in fact this morning when I rode...my fingers got quite cold. I actually do have a stationery bike in the house already and some weight benches...we have like our own little gym. I may just have to work out inside...or I could go over to the YMCA and join in....I do like to swim so that's an option. I will have to go take a tour...they just built a new one here in town. Thanks for the ideas...you know how sometimes...well...my mind just has brain farts sometimes...need to bounce the ideas around.

Its so funny you talked about riding a bike. I got a call from a friend of mine who said he was riding his bike every night and i should join him. Being i have not ridden a bike in like 100000000000 years i was like uhhh??? but after reading your post and knowing i go to the gym and this will just add to my work out I think i might try it. Sorry no suggestions with winter on the way I live in Florida lol no winter here. Just hurricanes lol Maybe you could go cross country skiing J

Hey be encouraged and go try your bike. I don't know if I can explain the freedom I feel when I am riding or not but just try it and see how you feel. Saturday I think I did overkill...I did go out for that second ride and it felt great. I can tell my leg muscles are protesting. They felt a little wobbly abter that second ride. I measured my distance with the car and I actually rode 2 1/2 miles. I'm so proud. I'll really think about that cross country skiing. I have actually never been on skis. I'll have to try it, I don't think I want to try the downhill...I can see myself trying cross country to start. Thanks for the idea. I have lots of exercise equipment in the house and many different video tapes with workouts but I think I prefer to get outside and go do something. Now my only problem there will be if I can get my husband to go with me or not. If not, I will find some friends to go. He can be a stick in the mud sometimes but I love him anyway.
