Hey all... I am wondering if anyone else is going thru some major stalls or food issues ? I have been having the hardest time lately staying "on plan." It seems like my carb cravings have gotten absolutely terrible I seem to be able to eat WAY WAY WAY too much... I know that when push comes to shove it really all comes back down the idea that I haven't really learned how to use the tool the best way possible but I am so frustrated, aggravated, angry and down right PISSED OFF ! I have tried to follow the protein rule of eating protein first but... I have had days where I have been so tired where the only thing that gives me any kind of energy is to have some carbs. I know that it isn't a good thing but it has been the only thing that has helped at all. I have also heard from a couple of people who have had WLS, lost alot of weight, had plastic surgery and then not followed thru right and gained back every ounce and then some ! I don't wanna be one of them !!!! I need some suggestions... Maybe even some butt kicking... Help ! My fiancee has been super supportive (as usual) but I have a hard time with his suggestions sometimes since he hasn't "walked the walk! " -Terri

Hi Terri, Just wondering if you've had your bloodwork done recently. If you're feeling tired it could be that you're not getting enough iron? I was suffering from a bit of anemia, and feeling really tired a lot too, having a hard time doing my excercise because of it, just because I had NO energy. You might want to have your levels checked. I go through my days of going off and then getting back on. Fear of dumping usually keeps me in line, but there are days when I eat a lot of pita chips or baked potato chips and then I feel really GUILTY. Do you have a nutritionist you can talk to???? Liz

I am such a carboholic! I too am tired if I don't eat carbs. And, my blood sugar drops too low. I've found that if I eat "good" carbs, I do better. I stay away from bread and pasta. Try eating some fresh fruit or whole grains. I'm really bad when it comes close to having my period. I find I want to eat everything in sight. I have to tell myself over and over again that I don't NEED (insert whatever) that I just WANT it and my mind is not going to rule my body. I've also found that if I have the 3 meals suggested and 3 PLANNED snacks, I'm not hungry as often. Here's a sample day for me: 9:00 breakfast (protein drink) 10:45 snack (protein bar - Atkins low carb) 1:00 lunch (1/2 of a frozen dinner or something similar and some grapes) 3:30 snack (protein bar) 6:30 dinner (whatever I fix for my husband but concentrating on protein and a few slices of apple) 9:00 snack (protein drink) Some days, I'll have 2 oz of lean sliced turkey instead of the protein bars. Or, I'll have some protein chips I bought from Kaysnaturals.com. The chips are crunchy and remind me of Sun Chips. They fill my desire to have something crunchy and are still good for me. The grapes, apple, and carbs from my drinks/bars seem to be enough to keep me going. Try eating smaller amounts but more often. See if that helps.

Hey Terri, Sorry you're having problems. I have food issues too, but mine revolve around the fact that I had to start over again, after never getting to the regular food stage. From my high horse in never been there ville, the only suggestion I could give you would be to surround yourself with things you can have, and get rid of the things you can't. If you have a healthy, allowed, snack alternative then you'll be less likely to slide in the "easy" carbs. HTH Gosh
