When I went to Atlanta to visit a friend early in June I had about 3 sips of wine, I started feeling a little tipsy so I stopped. And I've had a sip of hubby's beer now and again. And I haven't really felt like drinking hard alcohol, but I do love me a good cosmo!

Wine huh? Do you think it's a lot stronger than mixed drinks? I really don't know...I used to drink whatever except wine--I don't think I've ever really tried it. Yeah those cosmos were good and refreshing too! haha (bad me). Elisa

I have had alcohol a number of times since my surgery! I was almost 4 months out when I first tried it. I had Bacardi O rum mixed with Crystal light orange sunrise or whatever its called. It was good and I was DRUNK on one drink! I have had Bacardi Limon mixed with rasberry Crystal light too. I am too chicken to drink anything with sugar in the mix but I did ok with the sugar free mixes. I even went so far as to bring the lil packets of Crystal light out with me one night. I mixed it with a bottle of water and then ordered a shot of rum!! I got a glass of water..........drank that and then mixed my sugar free ****tails in teh empty glass!!! Hey ya gotta do what ya gotta do right??? I think as long as we drink responsibly (our pouches are just one more reason to think before we drink), it will be ok. It definitely isnt a habit, but when something special is going on its nice to be able to be included!

Hey Michelle, now thats an idea!! I gotta try what you did and bring my own sf stuff to make my own drinks. But yeah I agree we have to definitely think before we drink with our pouches. Elisa

ok I am hoping not to get flamed but I have drank wine, margaritas, mojito's, cosmo. Just about anything you can make sugar-free. I am away on business a lot and it is kind of hard not to drink. Plus I admit it I enjoy it. I usually only have one drink and I have never gotten drunk or dumped. If I am home I can make sugar-free mixes with splenda. If away I tend to stick to a glass of merlot.

Wow you've tried a lot of different drinks. I was too scared to do it and I just finally gave in. It's kind of nice to know we can have a drink or two and still enjoy them like we used to. Elisa

I'm glad you enjoyed your first post op drink But the myth of getting buzzed on just a few sips didn't happen to me either. I had my first drink at 6wks and after 2 Martini's I still wasn't buzzed, I was just full. I'm still a little worried about the sugar but it hasn't affected me yet. Last weekend I made some frozen Mango Mojito's and they were so good. I thought the sugar would mess with me but it went down nice and smooth I normally drink Martini's but it was hot and I wanted something cool, refreshing and something that would give me a nice buzz. Another favorite drink of mine is the Mai Tai...I know there's a lot of sugar in the juices they use but it's good One good thing with this surgery, when I drink I don't have to drink too much to get a buzz...2-3 drinks and I'm good. The one thing I can't do now is eat and drink. I used to love to go to happy hour, have a few drinks and some appetizers. Can't do that anymore but it's all good Sylvia

Mmm those drinks you mentioned sound sooo good right now! What else do you recommend? So 2-3 drinks and you get a buzz? I was wondering about that. I even told the people I was with that I'd probably get drunk off a few sips I felt like a big ol' liar when I had a whole one and nothing . Elisa
