Weird Changes?

"Weird things for me has been emotional. I have gotten depressed and i cry alot. I dont know who i am. Its weird and i talk to so many who had the WLS and they all say its normal. SO i hope noone else is going through this. I feel great i look great but i am sad.....go figure." This somewhat describes me at any given moment thru the day, I'm happy, I'm not regretful, but I'm sad, I haven't cried, but I feel like it, just can't really find a good reason to, because if I think about it, I'm HAPPY. So what gives? I feel better, not great, I look a teeny bit better, but nowhere near great, I try not to hang on to negative things about my loss or my slow start or my wound, but they're reality [or they were]. I'm trying to invent a reality where I can appreciate my HAPPY life, but I still miss the mark. NEED MORE THERAPY. xosm

Hello Ladies, I lurk all the time and never post. I feel open to share tonight. I didn't have really any after surgery problems, some dry skin, and some gas. Then my right foot started hurting so bad I was limping. I went to the podiatrist and told him what was up and he suspected it was my back. I have preop herniated discs in my back. This was it until the IUD horror. Mirena. I had an IUD put in last month (mirena) and all heck broke loose in my body. I started bleeding (TMI), chronic horrible back pain, I normally have back pain due to disc's but this magnified it, and my luchious hair began falling out. Yes, clumps of hair. I've had surgery in the past and never had my hair fall out. So, I compounded these issues, plus my weight loss stopped. I was hovering between 196-194 for almost 1 month, now i'm 186 and IUD free for 1 week. I was frustrated with this lack of weight loss and the IUD was the blame. So now, i'm finally recovering from like 45 days of bleeding straight and a huge invasive removal procedure that was very painful. I would not recommend an IUD to anyone and I don't like my dr right now either. So, this is my TMI experience. I do plan on posting more often. You guys seem like a fun group. Jennifer

Hi Jennifer, glad you decided to post today. WOW, you have been through quite a bit. I'm sorry about the IUD horror-that IS some scary stuff you went through. I haven't gotten on bc yet I keep putting it off but now I know what not to go for, thanks. Congrats on your weightloss. I hate stalls but we all break them eventually. Hey did you read on the main message board someone posted a 10 day plateau buster which seemed helpful, I dunno I haven't tried it but I printed it just in case . Elisa

Gosh, girl, that's not a 'weird change' that's an outright horrible terrible experience. NOT COOL, not cool AT ALL. I'm GLAD they figured it out as soon as they did and you can now get back on the weird path with the rest of us;) xosm

I've always had a scalp problem so that's nothing new. I use a body wash with a bath oil in it so I don't have dry skin problems. Drink more! I think my hair loss is slowing down. I've noticed less is falling out. OH YEAH .... hemorroids. Got em .... ewww.

Drink more, and then, uhm, drink some more, and when you don't think you can, yeah, drink a little bit more. Skim milk works for me at night so I can make my protein target and my fluid target with one big glass! And remember, [this, of course, could all be temporary and just luck], but I haven't lost hair, or had dry skin or been constipated save for that once after the days of Codeine, and I make my protein and fluid targets every day [I even stay up past bedtime and write silly message board posts while I'm getting it in!] xosm

Hi Elisa, I have a couple of weird changes.....I burp more, especially after a couple of bits and the problem I've had to take Senokot every night to stay regular. Also, dairy products really mess with my tummy after a couple of bits. But I hope all of this changes as I get further out but if not, it's a small price to pay for all the weight I've lost so far Sylvia

Okay Elisa here is the changes I have noticed. 1. Hair loss 2. lactose intorate, but not totally, Seems milk makes me gassy but cheese, yogurts are fine. 3. Mood swings somewhat, but really am in better mood most of the time. 4. Dont take no **** off no one no more. Some of that started a few years back after some control my life counseling, but I seem to be more demanding now. I try not to be too demanding but I aint taking no gruff of no one. That is the marriage thing too I told Bob to make a commitment or I was going down the road and find someone who would. And I worry too that that is not a good marriage make. 5. I have noticed my hemrroids more also. I think it is cause I am walking more. 6. Have tons of energy, mind energy as well.

Every single weirdness you mentioned can be cured or at least made better by increasing your fluids. EVERY ONE! Elisa, you're not getting enough fluids and if you keep it up, I could scare you with a lot of worse stuff that can happen. START SIPPING when you wake up and don't stop till you drop! I promise you this is important for the superficial things, like weight loss, and the super important things like HEALTH and feeling well. xosm
