What is Everyone Eating Lately?
Kayla,
I like the beef jerky too but lately I have been eating chicken salads (oh the Arby's chicken salad is soo good--I get the wrap but I just eat the insides), protein bars, crunchy oatmeal cereals, sunflower seeds or trail mix and my mom just made some cheese stuffed peppers that were excellent. I had that for two whole days-breakfast, lunch, & dinner! Cheese & a few crackers is always good .

I have been having that " I am tired of everything" kinda feeling lately. Made some chicken chili that other night that was soooo good... I was on a shrimp kick for a while... I try really hard to keep my carbs low but have really enjoyed those South Beach Wraps. I also have learned to have some kinda treat with me all the time and something "healthy" too. It seems like so many times you run out the door, not realizing that you can't just eat anything anywhere anymore and then get hungry and frustrated ! So I always have something to rely on in my bag or pocket. Heck, even a sugarfree lollipop will help you get thru a little bit of time if you can't eat right away.
I am so ready to have a salad this weekend... Micky D's here I come for a good ole Chicken Ceasar Salad... Hmmmmm I can't wait !!

Boiled shrimp and spicy ****tail sauce.
Lobster.
Rare beef [yay! I'm so happy to be eating this and ...]
Salad!! Iceberg or green leaf with onion and tomato - cheese and dressing.
Minute Maid light limeade halved with water ... hits the spot!
Protein bars. {I know this is lame, but I'm happy I can tolerate them, it's nice to have something portable on the road and I get full with a half! I like Edge the best so far].
I am eating [trying] everything except bread [including pizza], anything with sugar in it, and carbonation.
I finally feel normal, in a good way [gosh, food is so much better than protein shakes!] and a bad way [knowing that now I really have to pay attention to making healthy choices]. xosm
I seem to get in my little rut and eat the same things everyday and then switch to something new when I get tired of it. This morning I had a boiled egg, a half a cup of cottage cheese and a little can of fruit. For my dinner I had some stew meat that I cooked yesterday with some bbq sauce and a salad. Salad is the only thing that I seem to eat a lot of. Like everyone else said, it is mostly water and you can take in a bit more of it. I think my favorite is the chef salad from one of the restaurants close to where I work. If I don't have that, I put the pouch of tuna on my salad and get my 3 oz of protein that way. I'm not supposed to have anything with wheat in it right now so I have found things like crackers and chips at the health food store that are made out of black beans. They are interesting, I use them to dip chili. I do love chili so I have it quite often in the evening. About three or four chips with chili and I'm done. It's very satisfying and halfway good for me. My nutritionist says I need more variety, but I say, hey if we are happy in our little rut, then let us be. I'm actually thinking of getting a cookbook for bariatric patients and trying a new recipe at least once a week. Does anyone know of a good cookbook?
Gosh! You all sound like you're doing great! I haven't even tried salad yet. I didn't ask the doc about it at my 3 month appt yesterday. I love salad and have missed having them. I've been afraid I wouldn't get all my protein in if I ate salad or veggies. Guess I'll have to give it a try. If it's like most of you say, that you can eat a lot of salad cause its mostly water, then it should be ok.
One thing I really like is Dannon Light 'n Fit yogurt, (strawberry is my favorite) with about a half cup of cottage cheese mixed together. Tastes similar to cheesecake. I also love tuna mixed with a little mayo on saltines. Don't know why I like that so much.
We don't have any children at home so my hubby and I go out for dinner quite often. I find that most restaurants are very cooperative when I tell them I've had this surgery. They will let me order off the children's menu, (have you seen children's menus lately? mostly deep fried unhealthy stuff), or the senior. We went to Red Robin last weekend and you can order almost anything on the menu "petite size". I enjoyed it very much.
You all keep up the good work!
