3 Mo. Post Op Checkup
Hey Kids! Had my 3 mo. today. Doing well. Down 61 lbs. My B-12 and Iron were a little on the lower end of normal so the doc suggested supps so it doesn't sink further by my 6 mo. appt. (though my energy levels are very high ). The nutritionist after reviewing my fitday printouts said more red meat protein would help. I average 60ish on protein (mostly chicken and fish) and my goal is 78 which I've only gotten to a couple times and felt like I'd grazed all day to do it . She suggested 2 glasses of milk if I don't make the time for meat; its quicker and more portable; she told me to make my liquids count more. (i.e., I can't count my 12oz. latte towards the 64oz of fluids if its caffeinated but I can if its de-caf.) On the diabetes side, my blood sugar was 84!!!! I haven't seen that since age 10!. Chol. was 150. All my numbers were improved and good. Oh, BTW, I'm wearing clothes dating back to when I was 19....I'm, ugh, almost forty-grumble-two. This is too cool baby!
Jackie,
That is wonderful news, you are doing great. I have not seen my Nut since before surgery, I need to make an appointment.
I wonder why she suggested more red meat, are you anemic? I am glad you posted, I will start drinking milk too, I am having a hard time getting in my proteins.
You look great,
Hugs Shar
YAY!! Jackie 61lbs. is AWESOME
Wow, red meat? thats a hard one for me to get down except in chili. Interesting that only de-caf can be counted toward fluids. hmmmm, guess that latte has to be decaf then
Congrats!! and keep wearing those clothes from when you were 19; the 80's were a great decade.....teehee
Kristy
Wow Kristy, we're all so different on this journey. I tried, but I can't do chili because it usually has a tomato concentrate in it and throws my blood sugar up. Steak and Filet Mignon, especially on the grill, noooo problem! Pssst. don't tell anyone but I'm still gonna do my Dunkin Donuts lite latte w/caffeine. (Nut says no, Doc says it won't kill me...ya gotta have some fun!) Ahhh, the 80's....Big Hair, bigger boobs, low cut shirts and high-stacked shoes...those were the days my friend...tee hee hee
