Ok, I know what you are going to say... Proteins first... But do I always do what I know is best for me ?! NO... I had a couple of days where I was relying on stuff that was too high in carbs and then started craving carbs like... like... like a woman demented ! So here is the question... All of these sugar free products that still list carbs in the ingredients are they going to make me crave more too ? Can I really subtract the fiber and sugar alcohols and know that something that is lower won't cause me to get these stupid cravings again ?! I was so frustrated last night that I went home and went to bed just to keep my butt out of the kitchen and away from the darn crackers ! (darn ole stupid nasty ugly stinky crackers )

Terry girlllllllll, I understand! lord do I understand! It's funny though, because during the week I will follow the diet pretty close but on the weekends I will cheat with some carbs (yeah crackers too) and for whatever reason it usually causes me to lose weight. I think I trick my body or something but it works for me!. But maybe we should both go back to just sucking on sugar free popsicles. We can go crazy with the amount of those and we won't pay the price like we would with carbs. Shoot, I don't know girlfriend, I am learning just like you. I guess all we can really do is just try our best... it's all a learning process...just thank God we aren't the only ones!! Lana

um...are carbs really that bad? Can you overdose on them and die? Really--I don't know? I think I am also guilty of eating too much of them. I don't do this everday...more like every other day. I have cheese & crackers? Is that bad? I really don't check the carbs--I'm more concerned with the protein & sugar content of stuff. Terri, so sorry I can't offer any advice or encouragement besides to hang in there...or how about we're in the same boat? See you don't have to feel alone...I there with ya...wanna fish? Elisa

I have students that bring me food all the time! Pastries (sp?) I just "cheated" and ate 3 small ones..they were buttery and sweet, and not on my food list. I really wish I'd have a horrible reaction, then I'd think twice about touching things like that again. You can subtract sugar alcohols and fiber, the lack of the increase in your insulin levels is supposed to help you not crave carbs, and these two items don't increase your levels.

Kayla... I would threaten to fail any student who brought me pastries ! Darn !! Elisa... You know, to be totally honest I have no idea if carbs are bad now or not. The only thing that I do know is that in my "past life" they were a NO-NO ! The worse part of it is that once I have too many it seems like I crave them for days and that craving part is what makes me the most crazy (okokok you are right, more crazy! ) Looks like we may need to get a yacht cuz it seems like lots of our WLS buddies are gonna be in the same boat ! Lana... I threw the darn nasty things away ! Fiancee' looked at me stunned as I not only threw them away but crushed them all up first. Figured they would be too easy to pull out of box and eat if I got too crazed ! I know that somewhere I saw a bunch of percentages of what our daily intake should consist of. Anyone else seen that or know where it is ? If I find it, I will be sure to post it !

First I wanna say, See!! I am not just lurking!! lol Anyway, I saw my nut yesterday and I told her that I try to stay under 55 g of carbs everyday (give or take) and she said that is just wayyyyy too low. That someone about 3 mos out should be getting about 120 g a day of carbs, although, they should be better carbs such as whole grain or even from fruits and veggies. That we need carbs for brain activity and to burn fat or else the protein we eat will be burned instead of used for muscle. That got me sooo nervous because I too can get easily re-addicted to carbs, that was ALL I ate before surg. I am going to try and up it a little bit, but I am not too sure I will be able to eat 120 g.... HTH Patrice

Patrice ! I just love your Nut !! That makes me feel better. Think I am going to work on increasing my intake, with good carbs ! As long as I don't feel like I wanna kill someone for a slice of toast I will be doing ok ! I did Akins once and by the second day I was crying cause I wanted toast soooo bad !

I've been having a pretty bad week [month?] myself. I can't say about what the s/f stuff does, I would think if it doesn't impact on our blood sugar than it won't trigger the cravings, but {shrugs} I don't know if it will make the 'mouth' hunger worse. I think I will just go back to zero carbs for a few days to stop the cravings. AT least that's what I say now ... where's the popcorn?!?
