3 Months Post-Op
You are so pretty and such a wonderful support here to us all. You are so close to 50 pounds!!! That is a lot! It'll just keep coming off too. I personally think it is healthier for our bodies to lose a a slower pace (not that I think that almost 50 pounds in three months is slow by any means!!!!...LOL) just keep the faith girl....you are one of a kind.
Did you know that an 8 year old weighs around (ish) 50 lbs ? You my dear Elisa have lost an entire 8 year old ! You no longer have to carry that 50 lbs around with you. I at first was thinkin that at least our extra weight didn't talk like an 8 year old but then realized that with every step we took it was A SCREAMING !
We have accomplished a mission that few have... Keep up the amazing work ! Don't forget to find the little things to "hang your happiness on " each day and keep track of them so on days when we are not feeling that ole ray of happiness sunshine we can look back and savor each one !
So proud of you
You are doing great!!! Dont let the compare thing get you down. We are all indiciduals. Just see if there is anything you can do to speed up your metabolism. They say if you exercise after eating it helps speed up your metabolism. You will figure out what works for you. And 47 pds isnt bad. I am only two weeks behind and I have lost 46. And am in a stall. good luck
Hi Marie! Well, I'm trying not to compare--and it's not just our group here but other people who've stats show they lose so much within the first 3 months. I was just wondering if maybe I wasn't eating properly or exercising enough? But I guess it just takes time and sometimes I can be a little impatient . I am happy with my -47# loss it's just I had set a personal goal and didn't meet it but it's ok on to the next right? Thank you much for your feedback, I'm going to try what you said.
Elisa
"You gals are great!" See....Elisa.....that's where you're only partially correct. YOU are great!! We are the lucky ones, to know someone like you and be encouraged by you all the time! And that, my WL buddy, is what it's all about! Congratulations, 110%, on those 46.6 pounds! Amazing! Way to go! 50 will come and you'll blast right past it!!! Good luck on your journey!

Hey there, Elisa!
Sorry I wasn't here when you needed support. Hubby is home from the hospital now and doing well.
about not hitting your goal...I just wanted to tell you that I did the same thing. I would set goals, and not hit them by MY time table, and then in 2 days, I would go below my goal. The body is a weird thing, and I think it tries to remind us who is driving this ship, and when we are stressed, we retain weight and water, so we won't hit our goals.
You are doing a great job! There are ALWAYS things we can do better...all of us. At first if I didn't hit my goals, I would go over my journal and question every single bite I put into my mouth....does it help? yes....but you can go too far with it as well.
Elisa, just focus on feeding yourself to live, and enjoy life! Food is like a medicine. There is nothing inherently wrong with food, but some foods for some people, like medications, will kill them. Find out the foods that do not give you life, and stay away from them.
Like Gosh said, there are some great things that you can do to boost your loss, if you are concerned...
first, protein...what is your main source? Are you making sure you are meeting your minimal requirements with lower fat foods? (I had gotten stuck on peanuts and cheese for a while, and my losing slowed down...I changed to 2% cheeses, and dropped the peanuts for the most part, and the weightloss picked up.)
secondly, water...and less salty foods. This is a big one for me. I like salt a lot.
third, and probably the most important....exercise, exercise, exercise! Cardio for 20-30 minutes, if you can, if not...build up to it slowly. then, you need to do some resistance exercises....thisis what feeds your muscles, and you will build lean muscle mass and will continue to burn fat, even sitting still! This is what has been the KEY to me being so successful.
It isn't easy, and there are a lot of days I want to just say "I'm not coming in today", but I go, and push through my bad attitude and do my workout, and then I am so proud of myself and feel much better by the time I leave!
I have lost large amounts of weight before (before I hurt my back and had the 2 surgeries), and so the actual weightloss is not the sign of success or failure...it is the changing of the habbits and changing ourlifestyles to an ACTIVE, HAPPY and HEALTHY lifestyle.
The other sign of success for me is.....am I feeling my emotions and eating my food, or am I eating my emotions and feeling through my food?? this is the big one for me.
I have to allow myself to FEEL. And giving myself that permission is a HUGE deal for me.
Keep on doing what you are doing....make sure you are measuring yourself.
You are doing a FABULOUS job!!!
Sandra
Thank you so much Sandra! I really hope you're husband is feeling better & better everyday. I think you are doing a great job as well . I appreciate the feedback and will work on all those things--I'm still new (I forget) at this and getting used to this new lifestyle. I have been measuring myself from the beginning. My surgeon wanted us to keep record of our loss that way. However, last time I measured some of the measurements increased by 1/2 to 1 inch who knows why? Maybe muscle? I sure hope so. Glad you're back!
