Maintenance...
Ok all... I know that we all have alot of time to think about this whole maintenance thing but... How the heck do you stop losing weight ? I have seen some people who get way too skinny ( ohmigosh, can you get tooooo skinny ? ) So when we get to whatever goal we have set how do we change things so we are able to maintain ? I know that a million people have asked me about that and for the most part I just thought that we would add calories but heck my pouch is only gonna hold sooooo many calories ! Whatchya think ?

It's not a heck of a lot of calories to maintain one's BMR, less than 2000 for most [depends on body type and size, but generally speaking], more of course, if you have lots of muscle and are exercising a lot. Once we get our appetites back and our body adjusts to the change and starts absorbing all the calories we take in again, I suspect it will not be a problem for most of us. I am more afraid of not losing enough and changing my eating habits BEFORE all that starts to happen ... but I guess I just can't imagine being in the position to worry about being too thin, LOL! xosm
I've been conditioned, after a couple of decades, to accept myself as a large sized person. They say it takes 2 years for the mind to catch up with such a signifigant loss, as we're expected to have. I can't picture loosing weight, to be a problem for me, ever, so I guess the concept that I have to be careful not to look like Twiggy, is beyond me.
When I've seen this subject on the main board, the standard response seems to be... calories in, calories out. Up the carbs and calories, decrease the exercise, and you can either maintain or gain, depending on what you want for you.
For me, I can't believe how far I've come, and can't believe I may actually loose another 80lbs. Just like I'll worry about spending my lotto winnings, after I've won the lotto, I'll worry about how I can maintain, after I reach goal. Right now I'd be glad if I could just eat real food, and not throw it back up. (Next wednesday=egd, wahoo!)
