First, you don't suck. You've lost a LOT of weight and should be proud. Second, how much have you lost as a percent of your excess? That's what you should really be looking at, not pounds. Since surgery, I've lost 95 lbs., which is 41% of my excess. So it might sound like a lot of weight (and it is...), but I still have 9% to go to get to the halfway mark. My 6-month surgery anniversary is 8/23, so I've still gotta lose another 20 lbs. in the next six weeks, which is fully achievable. Keep working hard, keep watching what you eat and keep your chin up! Topic: RE: Beware Vacations!~
Kia--thanks for the warning! I'll be going on a mini vacation next week and I will definately watch out for temptations! As far as the brownie and doughnut...well...we all make mistakes, at least you have learned- and made a vow to stick to your good habits. I personally am terrified of eating sugary things. I am afraid that... 1. I'll dump 2. I won't I am afraid to find out that I might not dump, because I'm afraid it will awaken old habits in me. For now that fear is keeping me away from the no-no's...I hope that continues. Sheila

Topic: Beware Vacations!~
Hey folks - I sure hope you are all still losers I have been in Mobile, Alabama for a little while now (and will be for awhile longer) and I can say from first hand experience that vacations are dangerous! I can also now say for sure I do not dump Last night I had 1/2 of a brownie and today I had a dognut! (Krispy Kreme even!). I have made a vow to stop that crap right NOW and return to the good habits I have worked on. I just wanted to say that when you get out of your comfort zone of your own home and routines, that you can be more tempted then normal to indulge. Like I did. Anyway, I will be hiding out in the basement here this weekend as hurricane Dennis plows through here. Be safe and choose food wisely as I have not these last few days lol. Kia

Topic: 5 months post op
Just wanted to let everyone know that I appreciate all your msg. I am 5 months post op and down 80lbs. I never feel hungry. I know I need some from when I start burping alot and feel the gas in my stomach. For breakfast I have a yogurt smoothie from dannon light, lunch either lean cusine spa or south beach diet lunch I can pretty much fini**** not all the time. For dinner either a veg burger, chicken, seafood with salad or veg. I do get pains sometimes with this and dont feel like eating anymore. I am averaging about 600 cals a day. I take all my vits. I have to get more protein in I know that helps with the weight loss. My hair also started falling out about 31/2 months after surgery. This has slowed down a little. When I dont get enough protein it starts to fall out again. I have been stuck at this weight now for about 4 weeks. My doctor says that is normal. I am doing more excersise building muscle and my body is adjusting to the rapid loss. Started out at 296 and down to 216. Its great going from 24-26 to 16-18. Good luck to everyone. Keep up the good work. Just remember we got our lives back. I am able to move and walk and go shopping again.

I will be 6 months out on Aug 3 and I've lost 62 pounds. I've been a little concerned because they mentioned that at 6 months, they (my doctor's office) want me to have lost 50% of my excess weight. I was on target at 3 months having lost 26%, but now I'm lagging behind. I think at this point, my lack of exercise is playing a factor. All of my weight lost thus far has been without exercise, so I guess I'm spoiled. I'm just having a difficult time getting myself going to get the exercise done. Any advice? Kristi

NO!!!!!!!!! You do NOT suck. You are doing great. When was the last time you lost 61 lbs in less than 5 months? Hmmm?? Some people who lose like gangbusters in the beginning were carrying around a lot of water weight. I was. I gained 28 lbs of fluid in just a few days because I didn't take my diuretics, 14 of those in the hospital after surgery. But I'm counting those 14 pounds and say I've lost 84 lbs. I am not taking diuretics now. If I did, I'd probably drop another 10 pounds at least. If I go by my doctor's visit weight the day before surgery, I've lost 70 pounds. If I go by my "taking all my diuretics faithfully for a month" weight before my trip for surgery, I've only lost 56 lbs. So you can see how fluid can skew the weight loss figures and why you shouldn't compare your loss to mine or anyone else's. And you can see why the scales can drive some of us completely insane. You are doing great! Jeanie 320/334/348/264/165-ish

I'll be 5 months out next week. So far, I've lost 63 lbs. It has really slowed down the last month, but it is still coming off, so I am not complaining. Cathy G. 307-highest weight 291-surgery consult 260/197/149??

My 5 month anniversary will be on the 16th of this month. Since surgery I've lost a total of 61 pounds. Ummm, am I the only one who is this low?? I do have a problem sometimes remembering to take my vitamins. But I do drink my water. Calorie intake is still limited. Tell me what you think. 289/230/??
