Topic: RE: PCP against WLS
I think her shushing me would have sent me over the edge.
She needs to go back to school and learn about WLS. The NIH recommends it, for goodness sake.
There is nothing worse than an uneducated medical professional.

Cory, how infuriating that must have been! I hate when people act like that...I mean, there you were-a living breathing example of a successful surgery, and still they doubt! When people say to me, "Oh that surgery is so dangerous..." my reply is usually, "Yeah- and so is living with 140 pounds of extra weight, high blood pressure, diabetes, sleep apnea, etc..."
I don't blame you-I would leave before I saw her again.

Topic: 5 month Checkup
Hi all!! I went to my surgeon yesterday for my 5 month checkup. I lost another 14lbs this month for a total of 109 lbs since surgery (2/7/05), 139lbs since 1st consultation (9/23/05).
I feel fantastic! I am wearing a size 18 down from a 30/32!!!

Topic: RE: Sorry to butt in, but...
You both totally get the reason for my post... I love it! There is some debate about the protein thing (drinks vs. food)... I'm a bit confused about it, so I say... as long as you get your protein, that's the main point! I know I personally do a combo, because I'm no expert, but I often wonder how much protein we actually absorb... so I try to get in at least 80-100 grams a day (often more like 120)... Anyway, keep up the good work, Corina! And Dorthe, thanks for your feedback too!!!

Topic: PCP against WLS
I had an appointment today with my PCP and he had to leave, so I had to see the PA. She asked me about the surgery and how much I lost. (She needed to loose also) I had heard from other patients that she was against the WLS surgery. She commented that she was afraid to have it done. I was saying to her I would be afraid to but I had faith in my Dr. and what a good job he does....and she put her hand up as if to shush me. She did not trust any Dr. to do it because it is dangerous...period. I didn't know what to think....I guess I saw first hand that she was against it. I will leave the office if I have to see her again.

Puts it in perspective huh? I don't like the drinks but I get protein from my food. I can't get over the amount of people that just give up because they don't like it. This has been a hard journey for me, and I have have come to far to quit now.

Wow Joe way to go!!!! I still have about 15 pounds to go. I have been so busy worring about getting more protein in to save my hair that I haven't had time to worry about the weight loss...But awsome to think about 100 pounds in 5 months! Never with out the tool.
