Thanks everyone for the replies! I find it fascinating the little things that amaze me now. All these things are great! Another thing that is amazing to me is how I can feel my bones....not like "ouch" feel them like before, but actually feel the shape of them and such. The first time I felt my hips bones, it kinda startled me--I thought I had a hard mass in my side...only to realize I had another one on the other side...hip bones...LOL. Sheila

I hadn't realized how tightly I fit into the car seat before. Now I have lots of room, and my head doesn't touch the roof of the car. Jeanie

Hi, Dawn! I'm glad you found us. This is a great support board and it's nice to talk with people who had surgery around the same time. Jeanie Duodenal Switch (DS) 02/12/05 -85 big lubs

Hi Everyone. I had my surgery on Feb. 14, 2005, a valintines gift to self. I was 315 on day of surgery and now 5 months out I am 232. That is a lose of 83 lbs that I never thought I'd see. I just found this Feb. board and I am glad to see that there are so many others who are doing the same as me...Dawn

Let me see, painting my toe nails without being bent into a pretzel, I now can cross my legs and they have never looked so good! Knowing I am not going to over eat at any one time. Life is very Good. This surgery was a God sent in my life...dreams really do come true. Thanks for posting, Deb

I have to agree with the bit about crossing your legs. It suddenly dawned on me one day that I was sitting with my legs crossed and hadn't even realized I'd been doing it. Another thing is when I'm standing and I've got my hands in the back pockets of my jeans just because I can. Of course, just wearing regular (not stretch) jeans is a cause for celebration, too. One day I realized I could just lean over and tie my shoe without having to bring my foot up first. Little things that other people take for granted can seem amazing to someone who hasn't been able to do them for a long time. Cathy G. 291-surgery consult 260/195/149???

As I read your question, the first thing that popped in my mind was how easily and naturally I cross my legs now - and then went on to read your own response and smiled as I saw the first thing you said was crossing your legs I also don't feel self conscious when I go out in public any more - I don't feel that everyone is staring at the fat lady - ya know? I am down 107 lbs. Haven't lost hair (yet). Thought I was past that, but met someone recently who lost 75% of his hair in 3 days at 6 mos. -- so, that gave me a little scare. Was in a 6X and size 30/32 (or higher), now in a 3X and size 24 pants. Still have about 140 lbs. to go -- depends on how far down I can get with all the excess skin I'm going to have. Starting to sag in various spots, but I consider that a fair exchange. Sorry I don't have any pics, but my current computer isn't able; I'm planning to get a new one soon, so I should be able to put something on then. I've been pretty lucky with what I am able to eat. I just have had bad luck with one seafood restaurant. Both times I've gone since surgery, I've gotten sick -- once on broiled shrimp and once on red snapper. Must be something in their seasonings. I had some serious complications with my lungs (ventilator, then a tracheotomy) and was in the hospital 6 weeks, but I have no regrets -- I was at a point where I had to do something!

I have to agree, this is a great question! I find the previous entries to be true as well as how comfortable I feel this summer! The heat has been tremendous and it really doesn't effect me like it used. By this time in the summer I would have stayed in the air condition as much as possible but this year I actually have a tan!
