Topic: RE: Ughhhhhhhhh ?. LOSING HAIR!
OMG...my hair loss scared me SOOO bad! I knew before surgery to expect the hair loss, but around 4.5 months post-op when it started falling out by the handfuls, I freaked out a little! I did start taking Biotin, and I skipped days washing it (it was worse after shampooing). Luckily, the worse is over. It's now just about stopped falling out. Thankfully I had thick hair to start with so not too much damage was done! Take heart in knowing it will pass. Sheila

I've now officially joined the century club! As of yesterday, 5 months and 10 days after surgery, I've lost 104 lbs! WOOOO HOOOOO! I don't think I could be any happier! I feel great and everyone keeps telling me that I look better every day. I never thought this would happen until this surgery and now it is happening to me EVERY DAY! Can life be any better? How do I get a Century Club marker on my profile?

Topic: RE: How much weight have we lost?
I'm feeling great after losing the first 104 pounds of extra weight. That makes 1856 for the group so far (if my addition is correct). Great job everyone!

I am done (hopefully) with my hair loss - for me, it started about 2 months ago (around month 4 postop) and it has basically stopped. I have done nothing different, nor do I use Biotin or take any extra vitamins or supplements to help the problem. I came to my own personal conclusion that the majority of folks who have WLS will go through some sort of hair loss event a few months post op, and nothing I have seen anyone do to try to prevent the loss or minimize it seems to make much of a difference. I just got my hair cut and colored back to my natural shade and thanked the maker that I did not lose too much - my hair still looks good and I expect the next visit to find new growth poking out Kia 284/196/155

I can't believe how much hair I'm losing. It began really falling out a few weeks ago. I been diligent about taking my vitamins and I get between 80 and 120 grams of protein each day. Thankfully I had a lot of hair to begin with so maybe I won't go totally bald LOL! Janice 277/201/145

Dawn, Congratulations on your wow! I know what you are going through too! I also saw someone I haven't seen in quite awhile, and they were about to walk past me without saying hello. She actually asked where the other half of me was! (I have lost 71 pounds so far). I am just loving this whole experience! Diana

Topic: RE: six month checkup, anyone?
Dorthe, I had my 6 month checkup at 5 months since my husband and I had our surgeries about 6 months apart. So while I was in for my first checkup, my husband was in for his yearly checkup. We both received a B12 shot and the Doctor just asked questions. He told us how great we were doing and that it seems that we are doing ok so far. My husband showed a weight loss from 330 to 218 and I showed a weight loss from 265 to 186. Our Doctor was very pleased. I thanked him for doing such a great job with the surgery and that I was very pleased with it. We have a great Doctor. Tamela Pittman P.S. I had blood work done about 4 months out with my regular doctor and I showed to be anemic but since then I started taking iron and eating more protein. I was anemic as a child, but what is strange I will eat lots of chicken, pork, and steak and sometimes some peanut butter. I can't believe my iron was so low.
