Topic: Help with taking iron
My doctor wants me to take a polysaccaride iron which is a capsule. He says that if I don't break it open that none of the iron is being absorbed. This is evident by my 6month lab work. My iron level was 22, up from 21 3 months ago. Should be 35-155. I have been taking 2 capsules a day for all this time and am still incredibly low. I have tried the liquid formula also and I almost make myself sick trying to get it down (the liquid or breaking open the capsules). Does anyone have any ideas of what to mix the iron with to make it tolerable?
I had lost 90 pounds at my 6 month visit. This wasn't as good as I would have liked, but he was pleased as it was 60% of my excess body weight.

Hi Dorthe - I liked your idea of getting an angel on your shoulder. When you are ready will you post a picture on your page..I would like to see it. I have been thinking about a tattoo but I don't know what to get- Thanks for sharing. I hope you get a name for her soon! Good luck. Deb k.
Topic: RE: How much weight have we lost?
Since surgery on 2/7/2005, I'm down 75 pounds. I've found this summer the weeks where I HAVEN'T been on vacation, and exercised regularly and eaten right, I keep losing a pound or two a week, when I'm in vacation mode I stay the same or gain a couple. I'm glad summer is nearly over and the fall get-back-to-normal routine is almost here. Good luck and God Bless to all us losers.

Topic: RE: Ughhhhhhhhh ?. LOSING HAIR!
Janice,
I know exactly how you feel! I am getting scared at the amount I have lost to this point. My lose started at about 3 months post-op and continues. It seems to have picked up recently and comes out by the fist fulls.
I once had a good amount of hair on my head but now it is thin and not as healthy as it once was. My physician states that it usually slows down to stopping by 6 months post-op. .....Waiting........
I have found that I don't wash my hair as often either.
Good Luck to us all and here's hoping that it stops soon!

You look AWESOME, Dorthe!
I wish I looked as different as you do, but I was an extreme heavyweight of 407.5 on the day of surgery, so now, at 303.4, I don't look as extremely different as you do. I plan to, soon, but don't yet. Keep up the good work!
