i was told that you need 30 minutes minimum a day of exercise. try walking your dog longer or walking more quickly without your dog. i use an elliptical machine every day for about an hour. (30 minutes 2x a day) and i count how long i walk my dog also as exercise. i walk him about an hour a day total..split up throughout the day of course. just gradually add in some more walking or a little workout and it'll help...trust me!! i think that was the ticket for me getting to my goal in a year. i exercise every day....well almost every day.
