I'm a bit discouraged with my 1 yr. anniversary

I've only lost 3 lbs. since November. I go up 2, down 2, up 2, etc. My friend tells me it's because I don't eat enough. She's at her goal, doesn't exercise, eats pizza and other stuff I don't eat. Go figure. I know everyone is different. My friends say I look great, but I want more. I'd like at least to get down one more dress size. I've lost what was guaranteed to me, but I'm still overweight. 244/167/130

Lorraine, pick yourself up and dust off....you will get there. All of us lose at different rates, unfortunately and most of us aren't very patient. Remember the weight didn't come on overnight and it won't leave overnight. Do you track your daily food intake? If not, why don't you give www.fitday.com a try. It's free and you can also customize your foods to get a better tracking for calories, carbs, fats and protein. Maybe give us an idea of what you are eating per day and someone can offer insight to help jumpstart the loss again. Plateaus are common and the closer we get to a normal weight the slower the loss is. Keep the faith and go forward, you aren't done losing....it's slower but still a possibility. Hugs, Dana

This is typically what I eat during a day. granola w/low fat milk for breakfast small yogurt low fat for morning snack lunch and dinner are pretty much the same thing...either chili, stuffed pepper (no rice), lasagna (no noodles), or quiche. Probably most of this is around 6 ozs. night snacking would be some wheat pretzels and maybe a little bit of sugar free low fat ice cream. I do have pieces of sugar fee candy sometimes. for drinks (I hate water) so I drink coffee, OJ, some flavored water, and flat diet soda. My friend thinks I don't eat enough.

Lorraine, this is my opinion, I'm not a professional but what I would do is get away from so many carbs, it looks like overall good choices but still heavy on the carb intake for me anyway. I have tried my best while losing to stay under 30 carbs a day, basically eating lean meats and green leafy vegetables with an occasional low carb yogurt, low fat cottage cheese, cheese stick, etc. I also kept my calorie intake below 850 until just a few weeks ago, now I average almost 1000 calories a day to maintain. Hope this helps, it may take tricking the body some to get the loss started again. Lots of liquids will keep you full also. Dana

Oh my gosh.. how do you function on 1000 calories a day? I am really trying to stay at 1200 and I am having a hard time functioning! Good for you! Jami

hi lorraine. i totally agree with dana. you can go as far as you choose to with your tool. and refreshing your complaince with the pouch rules may be the way to go. having said that, i think you're doing great. right now, i'd just love to be at what you started with - but the reality is that i'm not. so i'll keep plugging away at it, secure in the knowledge that we're both better off than we were last year at this time. dorthe

Hang in there Lorraine! I haven't lost anything since Thanksgiving either.. however, I have been a bad bad bad bad girl! I do not dump and I can eat anything. I would agree with the carb intake.. lower the carbs and I bet you will not only see the scale move but you will feel better too. I went back to drinking protien shakes this week... they aren't as bad as I remember. You are doing great so don't give up! Jami 317/192-197 (depending on day)

You're at 130 right? How tall are you? I'm 5'5 1/2 and my Dr's goal for me was 160. I wanted to get to 145 (that's what I was when I got married) I have pretty much played with the same 5 pounds since about Thanksgiving also. I lift weights 4 times a week and eat pretty much any thing I want. I don't dump and am very bad about munchies especially when stressed. I try to stick to protein for munchies but it doesn't always work out I have a sweet tooth. I'm at 149-154 and pretty much can't stick to it on trying to get the last 5 pounds off. Stress is too much at work and money problems etc. I'm just grateful I have this tool so I haven't gained any. My Dr says I should be getting about 1200 calories a day but I have no idea how much I get. It's probably around that because of all the junk food. Pretty much from what I've learned from others that when you are this close to goal it is much harder to lose and you have to do a good old fashioned diet like watching your carbs and getting in your water and protein and exercising. If you don't get anywhere do more of the same. Also make sure you get in your vitamins so your body is operating at maximum effeciency and is able to keep up with your efforts to lose more weight. Good luck. Janice 258/160 goal/ 149-154 since about Thanksgiving
