Dorthe, Hi! We are surgery sisters! I will be a year out on Feb 8th too. Funny that we had our WLS on Fat Tuesday. Ironic? I too am more concerned now with test results than with weight. I have lost 167 pounds as of today. 10 more to go until goal. Last labs showed very low thiamine, so now I am on a supplement, and will find out how it is helping when I go in for more labs Feb. 21. I do try to get all the protein in, but some days I am short. I don't drink shakes much anymore, unless I need something quick and easy. I have been BAD lately with water and exercise, and working to get more of both in. I am good with eating though. Very little bread (ouch!) no sugar, pop, pasta or fried things. I think maybe I will turn into a block of cheese - it is what I pretty much live on these days! Still struggle with things that are too dry or stringy. And although my tummy is just a little wrinkly (looks like I've had a few babies), I may be in need of a lower body lift at some point.... but now I'm in no hurry for more surgery. God bless you and do update after your appointment. It is so great to hear that everyone is doing well! Bekki

It is hard to believe that in a few weeks, a year has gone by since my surgery! It was the BEST thing I have ever done for myself! I had a check up with Dr Curry in November and will have another in May. I am down 85#... and it is funny to have people say I am "skinny" (though I don't feel that way yet!! My labs and BP are normal! I SLEEP at night!! I can MOVE and DANCE again!! I feel GREAT! I still need to exercise more. I haven't had any problems!!! YEA! I, too, can't believe a year is almost here! I had my RNY on 2/11/05, starting at 287 lbs, and am now down to fluctuating between 152 and 156...My surgeon's goal for me is 150, but my personal goal is 135! I still haven't had any bread or rice since surgery, and I do eat flax seed pasta on occasion. I can definitely eat more often then before, but try to control any "grazing" I might do, so that i do not pick up a bad habit. I am thinking of trying the plateau buster diet soon, so maybe i can quit fluctuating, and start dropping again! I went from a size 22/24 to a size 9! Also, I had my PS consult this week, and my papers are being submitted to Aetna to see if they will approve a TT. I can't wait to hear back on that! I still drink protein shakes on occasion, bars when i haven't eaten enough protein, but i love chicken and cheese! My "bad" food is potatoes...i need to stay away from them, because sometimes i crave them and skip my protein--that's a no-no! As far as exercise goes, i haven't been as disciplined as i should be, but am getting more motivated and doing better than before. I would like to purchase a bicycle and start going on bike rides. Other than that, this has been one emotional year for me, with some crazy twists and turns--but I look forward to what the next year brings me! Thanks for posting this, it's nice to see where we all are! -Phoenix 287/152/135

I too have a hard time believing that it has been almost a year... my anniversary is on the 22nd! I am very excited but also sad that the first year is over... I felt like it passed too fast and I should have documented my changes more than I did. That and I looked forward the the surgery for a long time and did a lot of research so I feel sad that the major change time has mostly passed... anyone else feel this way?I struggle with my eating. I usually make good food choices but for awhile there we were eating out too much and I was taking in too much sugar and breads. Have renewed my commitment to stay on the right path but I still have to remind myself DAILY! Also, I have had trouble with my hips since surgery. Did not have any trouble prior to surgery but now my hips hurt. My support group thought it may be that my body is readjusting and the exercise physiologist thinks it may be a little bursitis or tendonitis... has anyone else had this problem? I have gone from a size 22/24 and 289lbs. to a size 10/12 and 165lbs so I am definitely NOT complaining : ) Congrts to everyone on here and happy anniversary to everyone... I am going to try and figure out how to get my pic on here ... not very computer savvy : ) Bye for now, Meryl
