I posted this in the main board but thought I'd put it here too. Friday I went to my endocrinologist for my thyroid check. He checked my blood sugar and my glucose was 85 and my a1c was 4.8! He cautioned me about LOW BLOOD SUGAR!!! Six years ago when I was diagnosed with type 2 diabetes, my glucose was over 600. A year ago, before my WLS it ran about 155 with serious diet control and meds. I can't believe it! Lynne

Lynne, low blood sugar is something to watch to, it will cause you to feel faint and shaky. One thing that is suggested and I'm sure your endo recommended is to eat small meals throughout the day to keep it regulated. Also keep something like peanut butter crackers with you at all time in case you experience the low blood sugar. Dana

Lynne I hear you I was a very bad diabetic type 2. I am on the pump and was up to 45 or more units in a day I have now went down to 10 units a day and am going into lows. I swim everyday and today I was in the pool for about 20 minutes and went into a low I was down to 41 that is scary so be careful. Take Care Cheryl

I can relate. I've been having major blood sugar lows since last week. I'm having to eat something tiny every 2 hours and what a pain! I went from not having to check my sugars anymore to living with my glucometer nearby. Last weekend was rough. I kept bottoming out. A year ago I was on insulin and 2 other meds for the diabetes. I'm going to have to follow up with my doc if this continues. Stephanie

Hi Stephanie, I read your post. My husband is getting ready for surgery Jan 24th 2006. Our family Dr. is real concerned with my husband having low blood sugar. How low do you go? How often do you have lows? The pcp is on the verge of canceling our appointment if he feels that it will harm my husband instead of helping him. My husband(Bob) is so tired of the shots and pills and the gaining of weight. Thanks for letting me know, and please share what your Dr. tells you when you see him. Take care, deb k
