does anyone know if it is safe to do the colon cleansing drinks they sell at the nutrition stores like vitamin world and gnc. i bought some the other day then took it back cuz i wasn't sure if it was a good or bad thing. i don't have much luck in the poop department with out the help of something (like a suppository those have worked wonders but i feel like i need a good "cleansing" hee hee hee)...i know this is a lot of info but i thought maybe one of you guys had the same problem.

i'm very glad you've asked that question, stephanie. i've had issues for quite a while, too. i'll keep watching for answers but the quickest way is to find out from your surgeon. mine suggested milk of mag, prunes, benefiber. i never asked about a colon cleansing, however, i do take psyllium husk on a daily basis, as well as colace. and before my hysterectomy surgery i had to do a colon cleansing, too. FYI and i know what you mean about needing a good cleansing. i constantly feel like i'm full of it. and it doesn't help that my pcp discovered i have a rectocele. for which i will need corrective surgery once my weight loss stabilizes. ah, the joys of being a post-op WLS. good luck with your question, stephanie have a great week. dorthe

Hi Steph, I'm not sure about the colon cleansing drinks...bathroom issues seem to be a common issue for us. I eat 3-4 prunes everyday and use MOM almost once a week if needed. I find the prunes have helped me more than anything. Dana

Hi Steph! Hope youre doing good after your surgery! On the drinks, I use them and *my* surgeon said they were fine as long as you only use them once a month and only if you feel the need for a good *cleaning*. I have used them 2 or 3 times over the last 6 months and must say they help. Again this is my surgeon so best to check with yours too, but I personally didnt have any problems, other than gaggin it down YUCK! But it was worth it in the end (pardon the pun lol!) Good luck! Hi, My surgeon gave me a RX for this powder called Miralax. You put it in liquid and it disolves right away. It also doesnt taste like anything. Its cheap and seems to do the trick for me. Its very mild and just makes me regular. It's not like you will be running to the bathroom every two minutes or something. Tavia
