my life has been turned upside down
Man how things change in a matter of 24 hours! I get a call from a friend Wednesday telling me she's in the hospital and has cancer that has spread throughout her body and they're not sure if they can cure it. I went up there yesterday to see her and somehow last night my hubby and i acquired her 9 year old son indefinitely. I don't mind keeping him now while she's sick but i don't know if i'm ready to take this on permanently...she asked us to adopt him if she dies! i'm so torn on this subject.....i'm totally stressed out right now! he's a good kid but has had a rough life and has a lot of mental and physical problems. man this is too much!! just needed to get that out a little bit!!
Steph, oh hun sorry to hear about your friend. Doesn't she have family that can help her, what about the little boys father? If he has mental and physical problems, it's probably best if someone in the family takes him should the unspeakable happen to your friend.
Be honest with her, let her know you will help with her son but you aren't prepared to adopt him. It isn't your responsiblity and let me say it's challenging raising your own, raising someone elses child has to be hard as he'll be dealing with alot emotionally.
I'll keep you in my prayers...remember do what you feel is right, don't feel obligated.
Hugs,
Dana
well my husband and i talked tonight and decided it's not going to be the best thing for us to take on this boy. i talked to his mother today and things are going to be ok now! she's working on getting him with her family and he went to see his dad tonight. thanks for the advice...i know i can always count on you to help me!!
WOW...that is really a hard situation that your friend has put you in!! Im sorry to hear this but I think that Dana has the best advice. Be honest with your friend that you can not take on this responsibility at this time and maybe a family member would be better to do this job!!

Wow Steph I just came in to see how your surgery went only to read this. I sure hope your friend will be okay but this is not something to think about lightly. I'm sort of happy to hear you chose not to take this on, it's tough enough to raise your own. Will keep her in my prayers as well as you for a speedy leg recovery though it sounds like your doing well.
