I have a date set for my plastics!!!!!! November 11th!!!!!!! I am sooo happy! My grandmother said if I lost the weight she would pay for whatever needed to be done. Well, I've lost over 100 pounds am at my surgeons goal and everythings all set!!!! My bypass surgeon gave me the go ahead to get the skin issues taken care of. I met with the cosmetic surgeon today and got everything set up on that end. I cant believe it went so fast! but when you self pay they put you right on top. I already knew that insurance wouldnt cover the tummy tuck (no back problems or rashes) and definetly wouldnt cover the boobs and arms so I triple checked with my bypass doc to make sure it was okay with him. He said I can go ahead that I'm at his goal and once the skin is removed that I will be perfect (me perfect?? lol). I cant beleive how easy this was!!!! So on to plastics and maintenance!!!! I will be having abdominoplasty(muscle tightening and skin removal on abdomen), masteopexy (breast lift) with augmentation and limited incision brachioplasty for the batwings!!!! The surgeon said since I dont have much excess on my underarms (just enough to bug me and flap in the breeze) that she can do a small (under 2 inch) incision in my armpits to tuck away the excess skin. Thats great news to me since I was afraid Id have to get the long incision from my pits to my elbow. I decided to go with implants since she said I would be down to a small B cup, possibly A if I just did the breast lift, and chances were they would look flat on top. Thats just too small for me so I will be trying to stay a D cup with implants. They will do the "lollipop" incisions and the implants will be placed under the muscle. I am soo excited!!!!!!!!!! She thinks theres a good 10-15 pounds of skin that she will remove from my abdomen. It will be a hip to hip incision, but I will have a nice flat tummy once shes done!!! Thankfully the skin on my thighs and back are okay so I wont need anything else done hopefully! Just had to share my joy! Thanks to all of you for all the support you give! I am so glad I have such a wonderful place to share all of this with. Krystle 2/15/05 5'5 260/!!!!!!!!!!!!! 149 AT GOAL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!/130???(after plastics)

Dorthe, You are doing fantastic!!!Youve come so far already, that other will be off before you know it!!!!!! Youve lost so much already, you look so beautiful in your new pic and I bet youve already changed from that too! I read in your profile youre going to have a hysterectomy? Will they be leaving you your ovaries? I had mine vaginal assisted lap. They took my uterus and thankfully left me my ovaries. I actually just had it done about 6-7 weeks ago. Yeah it was a little rough, but now that I'm healed I feel so much better, and I dont have to mess with that pesky visitor every month! Since I still have my ovaries I dont have to mess with hormones which is good (ive got plenty to go around lol!). I had really extreme painful periods, come to find out I had endometrial cells on my uterus. Now that thats gone I feel great! No more being in constant pain, just in general I feel so much better! Of course even if they take your ovaries everything will be fine. The medical advances they make never cease to amaze me. My moms on hormones after her total hysterectomy last year and says its just like a birth control pill. She hasnt gained any weight or grown any extra hair. Keep us posted okay. If you ever need to chat drop me an email. Thank you so much, it really means a lot to me to be able to go thru this whole journey with all of you. If it wasnt for this site I'd have driven myself crazy wondering "is this normal" "am I doing things right" and a whole other list of things. Just reading everybodys profiles is an inspiration. All of us have come so far! Oh, and I changed my screen name to Skinny Mama. Hubbys nickname for me has been "skinny mama" the last few weeks and I like it. The first time in my life the word "skinny" is starting to apply! (((((((((HUGS))))))))))) Krystle

Krystle- Congrats on getting all the work done. I have heard that we should wait until we are 2 years out to let our bodies adjust? Your doctors said it was o.k. though? I am soo happy for you. I hope to find a way to get the work done too. About how much does it cost out of pocket? I figure if nothing else I really want to do a breast lift! Congrats again-Kathleen

Kathleen, I triple checked with my surgeon to make sure it was okay. Since I had so little to lose (compared to a lot of his patients) and have lost all of it and have no desire to lose more (other than the 10 pounds of excess skin)he said it was fine. I just have to make sure I maintain my weight from here on out and not lose anymore weight. I will be having another checkup with him next month before preop to be sure that I'm not losing anymore and get the final go ahead from him. He did say normally he didnt suggest plastics so soon, but there are exceptions to everything and I was a good candidate to get it done. Now price wise~~~ roughly $20,000 for all three procedures including a night in the hospital. It brakes down to $4500.00 for the surgeons fees, and roughly $3500.00 for each procedure. The silicone implants are an additional $1800.00 , saline were cheaper not sure how much though. The rest is the hospital, anesthesiologist, pain pump, and support garment fee. I'm glad they gave me a discount b/c I was self pay and having all 3 done at the same time. Thankfully I had been planning on having plastics and saving since well before my bypass. All we needed was a small loan to cover the rest and that wasnt a problem to get. Capital One has a great Healthcare Finance plan and from what Ive heard are easy to get approved by even for the more expensive procedures. Krystle
