Hey! Have you seen my hair anywhere?

I was made fully aware that the hair loss thing was going to happen even if I got all my daily protein in, but does anyone know how to stop the hair loss. Or when to expect my hair to stop falling out? I know there is no exact date and time, but I'd like to know if I should just start wig shopping. Still loving every aspect of this procedure and would do it again in a heart beat!!! Thanks for any support you can give Temeka 246/190/140

NO, BUT I'VE SEEN MY HAIR EVERYWHERE. i went and got a really, really short haircut - that'll teach it for falling out. and i colored it blonde. seeing all that gray hair was distressing. (you know how you don't really notice it as much in the mirror) i've read about certain shampoos you can try but i'll be darned if i can remember the name of it. maybe someone else can help with that. i, too, would do the surgery again in a heartbeat. take it easy dorthe

I went to the hair dresser at 4 months due to losing my hair. He gave me special shampoo and creme rinse for folks who lose their hair during cancer tx (can't remember the name either). I'm at work. I also take a vitamin called Hair Care From Within sold by Avon which seems to help. I am like Dorthe and cut my hair off. It was down to my waist and now is to my shoulders. I have also let it go grey. Good news though. My hair has stopped falling out and my surger was 02/17. I'm not sure if it is the vitamin, shampoo or if it has run its course. Whatever, it is done for now. Good Luck - Oh and it is coming back in now on the top. Sarah

Temeka I just read your profile; it was great! I really enjoyed it.My surgery was 2/23/05 too! The shampoo they may be talking about is called Nioxin, they also have treatment serum and vitamins. I just started double scooping my protein shakes (morning and before bed) and my hair loss slowed way down. I also take Juice Plus (it's a product I sell that is basically fruits and veggies in a pill). I tried the oatmeal and Biotin and it didn't seem to help. However I've heard it said we the loss is usually between months 3 and 6 so maybe it would have stopped anyway. My husband has thinning hair and has been using the Nioxin shampoo conditioner and treatment serum and after about a month or two it seems to be helping him. Have a great day and good luck! Tameka, My surgery was 2/24/05 and I too suffered from extreme hair loss. It was coming out by the handfuls. I switched to a liquid vitamin (Centrum) and whether it was time for it to stop or it was the vitamin change....my hair is now done shedding for the past couple of weeks. Centrum also includes Biotin which I have heard helps to retain hair. If you think about it, the liquid vitamins can be immediately absorbed while the the chewables need to be broken down prior to absorption. I don't know.....but for this worked. Best wishes Diana

Hi Temeka, We have the same surgery date! My hair has been coming out in droves. I just go with it. I talked to my doctor who said the amount of protein has nothing to do with the hair loss. The reason for the hair loss is the large amount of weight loss. When the fat cells release the hormone estrogen, it causes hair loss. She said it's like after having a baby. I want to say that I notice a slow down in the hair loss, but I'm afraid I'll jinx myself!!! As long as it grows back, I'm ok with it!! Maisy 265/175/???

My hair loss has slowed down. I'm not sure if it's because I'm farther out or because I started using the Nioxin Shampoo, cond, and booster. Thank God it slowed down! I was beginning to feel like a runaway train and the hair loss slowed up before the train went over the edge. I could just here the screeching Cory

Tameka, I too have the hair loss problem! I hate it and I have tried the Nioxin Shampoo and Conditioner and take Biotin and extra iron. Nothing works it seems. I have recently started trying the horse and mane shampoo and conditioner. I am still losing lots of hair. I brush my hair before bathing and my brush is full of hair and after I bathe I find hair all over the tub. Also, after I bathe I brush my hair and the brush is full then. I do not know what else to do. Oh my surgery was on the same date as yours. I had my surgery at 4 that evening and was out the next day. However, I have lossed 88 pounds now.
