I am almost six months out from surgery and I have developed a problem that is causing me much grief. Whenever my stomach gets empty, I get SEVERE pains. This is not hunger pains, but a stabbing pain right in the center of my stomach. It hurts like this until I eat again. This has been going on for a week now. The pain is so bad that I get cold chills, and feel nauseous, I have even cried. I know the solution to this is to eat, but I can't possibly live my life having to eat every two hours just to ward off pain. Could it be a vitamin I'm lacking? Or a stricture? Maybe an ulcer? Before surgery I never had any kind of problems (like ulcers) and I considered myself having a strong stomach. Now this problem is starting to interfere with my life and happiness. Please help. Please call your doctor tomorrow. Anything that gives you pain, especially enough to cry is not good. I'm just not sure what the problem is so I don't want to speculate but if it get worse before tomorrow call your doctor's office and have someone on call talk to you. That is what they are there for. I wish you well. Bonny

I have had this pain too. I went so far as to ask my sister to call the doc for me cause i couldnt walk. It turned out to be gas as far as i know, because as soon as i passed gas (excuse me) it went away before the doctor even called back. I am going to see my surgeon tomorrow and doublecheck that everything is ok. This has happened to me more than once. I hope everything turns out well for you. Pam 247/180/123

I had the same as Pam - the doctor had me take an antacid and a benzodiazapene (zanax) due to a spasm in my stomach. I have had it a couple times since the surgery. Please call your doctor. Keep us posted. Hugs, Sarah

Thanks everyone for your care and concern. I am feeling better now. I called the doctor as suggested, but had to leave a message. They returned my call, but I was gone to pick up Mason from school. Anyways, since I am feeling better I haven't called back. The only thing I can think of is that I am simply not eating enough. I think this causes spasms, and air, which results in the pain. Also, I had skipped my allergy meds for a few days and the sinus drainage probably causes some irritation. Sheesh...I'm a mess! Well...lesson to myself...must eat, must take meds, must remember my needs are important too! Thanks again to all *****sponded! Sheila

I have had this pain twice so far! However, my gall bladder went bad two months ago, so I thought it had to do with that. I had this past Sunday and thought it might be my gall bladder. All I know is that I hurt so bad and then in about 30 minutes it went away. I didn't have my gall bladder taken out like most of you during the surgery. I didn't want to take something out that was not bad at that time. Now I may have to consider getting it removed. However, if you all are having the same cramps in your tummy then something else is wrong, that is if you all have had your gall bladder removed before or during surgery. Good Luck and let us know what your doctor says! Tamela Pittman
