What the heck???
Hello fellow Febbers,
I want to see if this is happening to anyone else or just me...
The last 3 days or so I have been so hungry at meal time. I have been able to eat more food than I normally do (which is usually 3 bites) I am getting paranoid that I am stretching my pouch, or that my surgery may fail on me.... I just don't know how normal this is. I will put a sample of what I ate today so that you can give me input (didn't eat great as I worked a wedding all day long and had to eat what was brought to me)
B~1 1/2 pieces of bacon, wrapped in a lettuse leaf
L~3/4 of a Chicken Fajita Pita (Jack in the Box)
D~1 Cheese enchilada and about 10 chips
Okay do tell.....
Sharon
Sharon you are doing fine. I had my surgery on February 23, 2005. I am able to eat more chips and popcorn than anything. However at first I did eat only one to two small bites of a hamburger and no fries. However I am only five months out now and I eat a 1/3 of a burger and about 3 to 4 fries. I am able to eat more pasta and salad sometimes easier than other foods. I can eat still only about one enchalada and about the same as you on chips. So you are doing fine. I think the idea is to not eat chips and things like that all day with drink because you cause yourself to eat more. Some days I am able to eat more than others and it seems when it is that time of the month!!! LOL So I do not think you are doing bad at all.
Sincerely,
Tamela Pittman
P.S. If anyone disagrees with me, please let me know so I know that I am not doing anything wrong.
Sharon,
Your fears are not just your own. I feel this way often. I am eating about the same amounts and it scares me. I think that I am comparing what I was able to eat right after post op, which was very little. Now I can eat about 1/2 of a quarter pounder without the top portion of the bun. It seems that I can eat about 1/2 of a portion at a restaurant, or about 4 - 5 oz of protein at a sitting.
I have noticed that I am able to get my liquids in easier than ever these days and that very little gets stuck.
My appetite is also increased a few days before my time of the month and I seem to graze more than I should at that point.
I hope that this is normal and I am glad that you posted this question. Maybe we now will see where we fit into normal. I don't want this tool to stop working. I am not ready to settle for this 70 pound loss! I want more! (I sound like a brat at this point)
Good luck!
Diana
Hi, Sharon! We must all be normal (whatever the heck normal is!?). I have noticed that I can eat more this last few weeks, food now tastes pretty normal and I actually feel hunger now. Dr Garth said this would happen at the 5-6 month mark, so we are on schedule.
Yesterday I had....
B - 8 oz choc moo-topia (milk) with scoop of protien powder.
L - 3/4 slice of deli ham
S - one piece beef fajita meat, refry beans w/cheese and 5 chips
I also had three 8 ozs cups of sf hawaiin punch w/protien added
That is a pretty typical day, I reckon. I use fitday.com to keep up with my eating. It helps me saty on track.
Hugs, Susan

Hi Sharon, I agree with all of the comments so far. I also feel hungry at meal time. In the past I would have eaten your daily food intake at one sitting. I think if we eat the best we can and continue toward goal we are doing ok. I have started drinking coffee again which seems to have slowed my weight loss (74 pounds so far). I have kicked up the exercise to one hour instead of 45 minutes and plan to drink coffee 3-4 days a week instead of 7. I go see my doctor for 6 month check up on 08/16 and hope to be in the 180's. Have a great day and keep asking the questions as we all are asking and thinking similar things. Sarah
