Some people are concerned about the amount they have lost, as compared to others. First, please don't compare yourselves, it will only make you upset. However to give those that are concerned a clearer view of how the amount of weight to be lost can affect how fast you lose I will ask everyone to post here. How much (total) did you have to lose? How much have you lost so far? I needed to lose about 125lbs when I had surgery Heaviest 315 Aug 04 Surgery 288 Feb 05 Today 222 July 05 Total Loss 93lbs Loss since surgery 66lbs NTL 125lbs - L 66lbs

I weighed 475 pounds a couple days after surgery, some of which was water weight. I had kidney failure right after surgery and they pumped me full of fluids. So 475 was my highest weight Feb. 2005 surgery was Feb. 7th. 2005 Today I weighed 355 Total lost so far 120 pounds since surgery I need to lose at least 160 more pounds yet. I figured I want to lose 280 pounds all together which would put me at 195 pounds weight. I haven't seen that number since I was a young teenager so I'd be thrilled if it happens. I know I have lost alot of water weight and I am alot bigger than most people on here so that's why I lost more and I have alot more to lose. I pray that I can get it lost before my time frame is up. I'm told it's between 12 to 18 months? Is that right? Good luck to all. Deb

My goal was to lose 122 lbs(goal weight is 115lbs). Both my sisters are the same height as me and weight 115, but I don't know how plausible that is for me... I am 5'3" and pre-op my BMI was something like 41 or 42. Here you go.... pre-op BMI-42 presently-29.5 heavest-237lbs (pre-op) 4.5 months PO- 166lbs Total loss of -71 lbs since surgery (feb 05) Lap Last 5'3" rny 2.16.06 Dr. Nazarian f.a.c.s. 237/166/115....that's what both my sisters weigh anyway!

My highest weight and the weight I was on the day of surgery was 386. I started off losing pretty good but have slowed down alot. I have lost down to 322 which is a total loss of 64 pounds. I haven't set a goal weight but would like to be lower than 190.

excellent idea, girl. i also feel that there's alot of concern and comparison going on - guess that's human nature. i've read every last one of the responses here. they all point to the fact that we're all very different, all doing well on our weight loss, and all learning alot. here's mine: highest pre-surgery weight 450+ date of surgery: 440 current weight: 340 goal intended: 180 (?) the + after the 450 is because i never actually wrote any of this down. i had a bmi of 68.5, according to my profile, but my memory is awful - or perhaps i'm blocking out the actual number. the (?) after the goal is because it's the weight i felt best at, even though it wasn't my lowest. i weighed 155 on our wedding day. (funny how i can remember that, huh?) but i was not able to maintain that weight at all. my doctor, god bless him, hasn't so much as mentioned a goal weight. but at my three month he was pleased with the progress. so am i and i guess that's what really counts. good luck to one and all. it's an amazing journey and i'm thankful each and every day. dorthe
