what blood work

Has been given to ya'll after gastric bypass surgery ? Has anyone gone to there family physican after there surgery ? what should i asked to be checked?

I will have my lab work drawn up on the 23rd by my surgeon. My surgeon does the full workup of anything and everything~b12, calcium, cholesterol, triglycerides, thyroid, iron, its a pretty long list, but I think ya get the idea. He prefers to do the lab work himself ~first at 3 months, 6months, 1 year and then yearly after that. Although I do know of someone that shares my surgeon and date that will have her pcp do the lab work instead. Shes 4 hours away so the surgeon faxes her pcp the orders for the labs and then the results get sent back to him once they get back. You could always ask your surgeon if you could do that if distance is an issue or if you just prefer your pcp do it. Just keep them both in the loop so you get everything tested that needs to be. Thank u . I was not sure if i should wait for my 3mths checkup or go to my physican but i guess i better weight till i go for my 3mths checkup since they do , do blood work in there office. and if not I'll go ahead and get it done at my physicans office. thanks

Dear Star, I just went in for my 3 mo. check up with the surgeon and he gave me the lab slip to get my labs done right before my 6 mo. check up. Mary M.

i went for my 3 month and he gave me a set of lab orders to be done in time for my six month, too. in the meantime, he said i should be on b12, vitamins, calcium, along with my other meds. hope that helps. take it easy dorthe
